Don't think I'll ever reach goal

Recommended Posts

I am 19 months out and I have been at or near this weight for about 10 months. I know most of it is that I've reverted back to some old eating habits (too many carbs) but for the most part, I still eat pretty healthy. I'm not sure what it is going to take to get me back on track but I am so tired of the scale not moving. I've lost about 81 pounds and have 26 to go. In the time I have been stalled I have lost a size or two so I feel good about that but I need to lose pounds. I will start monitoring this site again to help motivate me. I am glad to see this veteran's forum.

81 pounds! First off that's a great loss! But I know the further out we get the harder we have to work...

There are a couple of good threads here to jump in on..

Is a good one.. It's long running and still going strong.

I agree with Laura, 81 pounds off is excellent and you've kept it off and you've dropped dress sizes... well done you!

In fact, I could of written the same post... I stopped losing weight a long time ago but continued to get smaller with the help of exercise.

To be honest, I really don't know what the answer is... I long to get to goal! I will be 3 years out next month and would love to see the scale move again before that time... but I really don't think it will. I would appear that even though my body likes this weight, my head doesn't!

Hey coops what do you think of the fasting diet NannieG was talking about??

It sounds like its working well for her. I just don't know about doing that much manipulation of daily intake...

I've had a little look at the links that she posted ... I am getting my head around it and might give it a shot!

I reckon on the 500 cal days, you fill up on fruit, veggies and lean white meat... could be doable, especially with our little tummies. And because it is only twice a week, if you space the two days out you shouldn't feel too deprived.

Have to be honest, I am seriously thinking about giving it a go... can't do any harm and I've tried other things.

What are your thoughts... Nannie is in the same boat as us... stuck with the same numbers, but it is working for her at the mo, like you said...

I need to do more reading.

but the 500 calorie days are supposed to represent a quarter of our normal daily calories.. Assuming we are eating 2000 calories a day?

So that part might have to be tweaked because I don't take in that much.

My only other issue is on the eat anything days?

Do I trust myself to make mostly wise decisions..

But I'm going to read more about it to make sure I really understand it.

I have had a goo scoot around and I am gonna try it next week - Tuesday and Thursday will be my fasting days. The other days, I will just stick to eating 3 meals a day, with one possible snack and try to maintain the primal blueprint idea of natural good foods... See what happens. Feed your eye has put a link on the other thread that pretty much sums in it... really good.

I'm at the stage now, where I am thinking that if I mess up, then that is history and move on. For example, yesterday my daughter had a cookery assessment in school; she made a range of tasty 'treats' and brought a lot of them home... so I ate some of them. The jam tarts and sausage rolls were fantastic! I don't feel bad about it and today I have reeled myself back in and I'm back on track. Wish me luck and let me know if you are gonna have a go.

Bikerchick. You came to the right place! Some of us are still slogging on here... and the company is good in the Vets forum! What you are experiencing is pretty normal for most of us. We are working together to get the answers we need to stay happy and healthy.... and hopefully close to goal!

You've done great and with a few changes, I bet you'll see the last 26 leave for good!! Cut back a little, up your Protein and liquids. If you think carbs are an issue, cut back a little. Do you still have good restriction? Log your food, keep track!!! You can do it, I'm sure of it!!

Thanks to all of you for the words of encouragement. This site was a blessing to me before and right after surgery.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
