8 days out and the smell of food tortures me!

Recommended Posts

While I feel full and physically satisfied from my liquids, the smell of delicious food drives me crazy and smells so good that I feel frustrated I can't have a taste. I hear some people find the smell off food off putting. What about you?

My first day home from surgery my "caretakers" (Dad & Hubby) ordered a pizza... Pre-surgery it was my favorite food.... It made me feel so nauseated I had to go and lock myself in a back bedroom :P. Good job on acknowledging that you are satisfied and don't need that food though! I'm almost 6 months out and I constantly have those inner dialogues. Stay strong!!!

Yes food smells great..but knowing that I cant have it well that is ok...Remember skinny feels better than vomiting after eating something that our stomachs cant handle....(had to put a spin on it) LOL

That first week after surgery, the good smelling food made me so miserable because I wanted it so bad. At 4.5 weeks after surgery, I have no interest even though it smells good, the thought is gaggable.

8 days post op and I am at the beach for a quick (pre planned and paid for before surgery was scheduled) weekend trip. Vacation time used to be a no holds barred let's see how much I can eat type of thing. Went to Pi-zerria tonight and they ate while I sipped a Protein Shake. It wasn't too bad. I just kept thinking of how good I will look when we come back next year! pizza is one of my favs and it did smell soooo yummy! Everyone saying how stuffed they are uncomfortable, but I feel great!

I was different day to day at your stage. Some days I wanted to eat everything and anything. One day my family ordered pizza and the smell made me feel sick though.

Now (~7 weeks), the smell of food doesn't really bother me one way or the other. But I do hate crap food now. I have to chew so much and eat so little that I want TASTY food. I had a grilled chicken wrap from McDonald's once (had no choice that day!) and it was revolting. I had a couple chicken wings at Boston pizza and they tasted disgusting to me too.

Very weird. I had fish tacos at a higher end restaurant tonight and they were fricken delicious! And some salad... Man I missed salad!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
