To All My Fellow June Sleevers........

Recommended Posts

With surgery just a few days away, I decided to write this post and PROMISE to post my immediate pre and post op experience. I have followed several "pre sleevers" only to have them stop posting once they had their surgeries. I get it. We all have lives and have those things that come up. I place no blame. But, I also know that there are others, who have upcoming surgeries, that will benefit from seeing the experience of others posted immediately. If I can calm the nerves of just one person, well then I would be happy.

So to my fellow June Sleevers....... I promise to post my daily experience (God willling..... and I soooooo hope he is!) :D on this thread for the entire month of June.

In closing, I hope you will join me on this journey. Cheers to a new you!!!!!!!

Thanks for this, Nik. I have been on this site since April, and I have gotten so much good information from the sleevers who continue to post when they are post (pardon the pun). My date is June 19, and like you, I intend to keep posting and paying it forward to the next ones. :)

I am a June sleever, from 2012. Today is my 1 year anniversary. Life is good. After the first 2 or 3 weeks anyway ;) just get past the liquid phase and I promise, you will love your sleeve.

Good luck on your journeys

Thoughts for today Thursday June 6th. Just 4 days away!!!!

So, I don't have a pre-op diet but I have been cutting back for about a month already. I soooooo miss my Dunkin Donuts caramel iced coffee! I almost had a moment of weakness today but, I drove by and settled for my Chike banana Protein shake. I have so much to do before surgery. I am not really worried about the surgery itself but rather getting everything ready that my family will need while I am recovering. (I am a bit OCD.) I also started preping this morning with the special soap my surgeon gave me. I also continue to take my Vitamins plus my self added Biotin. It helped tremendously with my hair regrowth after my lapband surgery. I keep forgetting to take measurements and my before pics. I HAVE TO DO THIS THIS WEEKEND!!!

I was sleeved June 3 and have not stop posting since then. The VST forum has been helpful for me and I want to be able to give back by sharing my experience.

And today I had my first taste of puréed foods, 2oz. Yay! Very yummy!

Had surgery this afternoon. I am just waking up. :) I have a liitle soreness. Nothing crazy. I am however very tired. All went well. I am so happy to be rid of my lapband. I have been up walking and to use the bathroom. Nothing major to report. I am going back to sleep. Very very tired.

Up and moving. My pain is minimal. I would say a 2 out of 10. I have had three medicine cups full if Water. I have three more to go. If I keep those down without issues I can move to broth, juice, and popsicles. Yeah! So far so good. I actually feel better after this surgery than I did following by two lapband ones.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
