So close i can taste it (Cigna)

Recommended Posts

They received my information last Tuesday. It has been through a couple of phases, they say it takes 5 business days, but today I got told Thursday or Friday... The waiting is just getting so tough now that I'm so close to a surgery date. I know, I'm a whiner ;)

It will happen, they will notify and the worst is that they will decline and your surgeon will appeal it and get an approval on it. Yes this is totally anxiety provoking too...... :)

Try not to bug them. Keep busy and stay positive. You may end up irritating the very person who makes the decision.

Well, I was denied by my insurance...

I called my insurance company today and I was told my prior-authorization was denied. They apparently did not receive the separate evaluation from a different physician recommending for bariatric surgery and approval for surgery. I had an appointment for that specifically on the 24th of May, and it was sent over to my Surgeon's Office on the 28th of May (and they confirmed receipt).

I SHOULD have asked if there were any other reasons for the denial, but I'll probably ask on another day.

I've emailed my insurance coordinator at my Surgeon's office to see if she has any more clarification she can offer, and she did state that she sent the information with the initial prior-authorization, so she has faxed it again twice today.

I guess I'll call again tomorrow to confirm they received her fax, and to see if there were any other reasons for the denial.

Ahh well, there is always an appeal.

Does anyone think I should maybe go to a supervisor, or is that going to do me more harm than good?

Ahhh Cigna, fight it. My husband was denied by Cinga last week. We fought it tooth and nail, saw the dietitian again. Made the Primary Care Physician write "Cleared and Recommended for surgery" also has the physiologist write "unequivocally cleared for surgery." Follow the verbiage in the requirements to the T. Paperwork was submitted Tuesday and he was approved this morning. His surgery is scheduled for Monday. My paperwork will be submitted next week, so I'm sure I'll be in the same boat. Message me for any info.

I'll fight it, it is just kind of a let down. I'm going to get more specifics tomorrow, and my insurance coordinator is on the ball also...

Just submit what they want. No need to "fight" anything at this point. They have very specific requirements, so make sure all paperwork is sent in. Same thing happened to me. Once paperwork was submitted it took about a week for approval.

The positive thing is that they didn't deny you or a medical reason--that's where the fight comes in! Good luck!

Uhh, :( should be Thursday at this point (per the Customer Service Rep)...

I guess I'll keep at it 'till then.

Then the testing, and assuming that all turns out ok, then we have the surgery...

Still hoping for the middle of July, but I guess we'll see.

Don't lose hope! Just keep playing the game and give them exactly what they want. Good luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
