Theater close to The Mariott?

Recommended Posts

I'm wanting to see world war z which comes out while I will be in TJ. Is there a theater close to the Mariott? What are the chances they would play movies in English? I never get to see movies at home because of my babies. I'm hoping to get some good "me time" in while in mex.

Hi!

There's a theater just up the hill behind the Marriot, in the same mall as the Wal-mart (everyone will tell you about the Wal-mart). It's maybe a 10 minute walk pre-sleeve, considerably longer when you're feeling rough after surgery!

All the movies are in English, with Spanish subtitles.

Be careful when you're choosing times. In the same theatre there's a VIP and a regular cineplex. I went to the VIP one, because I hadn't noticed that's what it was when I was checking times.

It was about $10, which was ok, as the VIP theatres have cushy recliners and are pretty swanky. It was nice post-op to be able to recline out. I think if you go to a regular movie, it's about $6.

Enjoy your movie!

Why would you go to a movie in Mexico don't you know that chihuahuas sit in the theater and talk to the screen during the movie. Their so rude.

Yes catch a cab (or walk) to the Cinepolis theater just up the hill from the Marriott. I highly recommend the VIP package - awesome leather recliners. Less than 10 bucks... can't remember the exact cost. They also have ushers who will bring you a menu and serve you. My guest ate a full meal. I just ordered bottled Water. I saw Jack and the Giant Slayer there in March. It was in English with Spanish subtitles. I found a website that listed the showtimes and whether the movies were SPA (in Spanish) or SUB (in English and subtitled). Wish I could remember which site it was. Oh, if you pay with American money, they cannot make change at the theater, so try to take different denominations of bills so you can get close to the exact dollar amount.

Thanks for this detailed info! Do you know if you can pay with credit card?

Just remember that if you pay with a credit card some business will charge you a service fee which can be as much as 5%

Good point. Thanks!

This link lists the showtimes for all the Cinepolis theaters in Tijuana. You want to look for the listings at the Galerias Hipodromo shopping center. It's just about a mile or so up the hill from the Marriott. If the listed movie has "Sub" next to it, that means the movie is in English with Spanish subtitles. Remember that VIP tickets are about 10 a person, but they are very nice, comfy seats. Worth it, in my opinion. The non-VIP would be cheaper, but I'm not sure how much.

This link just has a few pictures and a little info about the theater. Hope this helps.

You can probably catch a cab ride for 5 bucks or so if you don't feel like walking.

Next Sunday night, June 23rd, food Network Star will feature a Cinepolis theater. From the previews, it looks just like the VIP section in the theater that's just up the hill from the Marriott. Might be worth checking out if you're considering watching a movie while in Tijuana.< /p>

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
