I'm angry!

I'm aware it was my choice to have the surgery and I reviewed the different types for 3 years before committing. Unfortunately, nothing could have prepared me for what would occur post op. (Sleeved on the 22nd). I'm down 27lbs and I honestly could care less. I truly miss food...when I'm hungry I want to eat not sip. I feel like if I see another broth/ soup I will off myself. Seriously, I do not see this getting any better. Plus, I fear the puree stage will look like baby vomit. Everyday I wake up praying I'm normal but come to the realization that I'm not and never will be. I just wish I was completely happy again BC I'm miserable.

  • My NUT said I shouldn't fear the purée stage. It's easy to combine purée and soft foods. Just chew really good. I sometimes miss pigging out on chips and junk food but all I need to do is step on the

One of the most difficult aspects of this whole deal is dealing with our heads. I often wish I could have brain surgery along with the VSg - to remove the portion of my brain that is addicted to food :) Take a deep breath and keep on going - eat for nutrition' date=' less for enjoyment, and learn to find enjoyment through other things - it is key to succeeding at this, and no it is not easy.[/quote']

I agree it is very hard & I wish my brain would feel like my stomach not hungry

I understand how you feel so I am going to give you my little trick that helps me get through missing chewing regular food, I did it with my band and now my sleeve. I "eat" what ever I am craving. I chew it in my mouth and then spit it out in the trash. I also have my protein shake with me. I.chew and spit then take a sip of my shake. It tames my cravings, cheating without.cheating. I hope this helps you. Just do not swollow anything your not supposed to

Yes as a matter of fact I did! It was suggested to me in a pm that if I had a "nicer" picture that perhaps people would find me a kinder more relatable person?

so here I am a nicer Laura-ven

I was sleeves on the 23rd and have just started scrambled eggs and cottage cheese. That has helped so much. Thursday I can start Peanut Butter, crackers, bananas, and oatmeal. Hang in there it will get better!!!

Yes.. unfortunately this surgery is not for those who like to eat a lot, who love the taste of food in their mouth, who love to go out and eat and can't resist ordering a lot of food and wanna eat it all.. but I would think during your 3 years of research you would've come across someone who told you the real deal about the sleeve.. hopefully the feelings you have will pass when you can actually chew again. Best of luck to you!!

The person you described this surgery not being for described me to a T. Because of my inability to resist eating huge amounts of food, I felt this surgery was the PERFECT surgery for me. If I couldn't practice portion control of my own volition, I needed medical intervention. So far, so good.

Its successfully worked for me too. I was and is still in love with food.. however when people ask me the real.. I keep it real. Yes I still get hungry. Yes I wanna eat everything bad still. But those moments are far in between for me..but for some like toy they can't handle those urges and it seems like the surgery has ruined their life. . I've never had that feeling.. not once since being post op

QUOTE="Carol1560"]Girl,

There is no way you are hungry. It was hard for me too!

I was hungry a few days after surgery and at six and a half weeks I am STILL hungry. Yes it's a true hunger NOT head hunger and I checked with my nutritionist and surgeon and it happens. I even doubted my sleeve up until yesterday big time since I seemed to have no restriction and could eat so much! Well yesterday I went out to Celebrate my best friends birthday. Long story short, I now believe the sleeve restricts lol! Though it felt horrible I don't regret it because I feel better knowing that though I will never be one of those 3 spoonfuls and I'm full people I can't pig out add I used to! To the poster of this string..I felt crappy dissed and angry till four weeks out when I could stay eating real foods again. Now at over six weeks where I can eat almost everything I feel better. I can't eat as much as I used to but all the food I've re-introduced have been tolerated :-) hand in there..it gets better! I doubted it too :-)
