  1. Hi ladies :-) My surgeon said no pregnancy until the 18 month mark..so I'm looking into the different options..here's a bit about me. I'm 39 years old, 5'2", starting weight at pre-op was 250..I lost 10 lbs pre-op. I was sleeved may 1st and am now at 228. I've been stalled for three weeks :-( Anyway my experience with birth control is the pill which was a very bad experience. It made me psycho..sad and depressed and I gained a lot of weight AND I would be stressed about forgetting to take them. I think the hormones affect me badly. My husband and I have been using condoms and I want something safer. I don't want any chance of s mistake happening! I've read quite a bit on this site regarding both of the iuds..the under the arm stick..the ring. Please share your experiences post-op, your decision and how it's going. Ps..I don't have children but would like to, tho I'm really pushing it at 40+ years..
  2. Has anyone had surgery by Dr. Ferzli in Staten Island?

    Beware! woman traveling to TJ

I've read every post of this thread..this "novella" is a shame on all fronts. This thread is a serious turn off. This is the first and only forum I have joined hoping to find information support and even some fun. Unfortunately there are a handful of drama queens, attention seekers, and control freaks that are all over this site 24/7 pontificating their absolute judgements. It's disgusting..disheartening and negative. Unsubscribing. Good luck to those who have helped me immensely. I will be looking to other sites for support.

Items that Swell in your Stomach?

Thx jenlen :-) After the surgery I was really struggling to find things to eat and DRINK that agreed with both my stomach and palate. I did start off eating a lot of sugar free foods but decided after researching that if I want something sweet I would just have it with the sugar in small amounts. The exceptions are protein bars when I'm falling short on my daily requirments. It took awhile and it's taking awhile to get to the nirvana we are all searching for lol! It just grates on me when people pontificate and lecture with what seems like is no empathy. Thx again..have a great weekend!

Chicken or fish Lite Mayo or regular mayo

Be REALLY careful with that mayo! I had what I now refer to as the'mayo incident'. When I first got to the pureed stage, tuna was heaven :-) I wasn't aware that mayo was so fattening! My nut had even told me to use regular mayo and not fat free etc..Long story short I GAINED 5 lbs in a week. Omg!! I got some fat free..couldn't use it..gross but the low fat..Olive oil one etc is just fine :-) keep adding a little mayo or ranch dressing or yogurt till it gets a creamier texture that helps. Also as someone suggested try different brands, the white meat tends to be drier I feel.

    Im addicted to weighing "/

I weigh myself first thing in the morning after using the toilet :-) then when I come home from work I strip and weigh myself then before bed I weigh myself again. I get annoyed especially since I've been at a complete stall and battling the 1 lb gain loss game for A MONTH now..jeeeeeeez! I think some of the posters here are right though, it's not how many times you weigh yourself but how you feel about it. If you get on the scale and get depressed or freaked out then you should change your pattern so it doesn't bring you down all the time. It tweaks me out but then again I'm generally a tweaker :-) if I didn't get on the scale I'd be worse of mentally lol :-)

    Craving!

Omg! I have BOTH issues I have cravings that are SO strong AND I feel almost no restriction even though I am now at the solid I can eat almost everything since I'm hitting eight weeks stage! I can eat a LOT. I know it's up to me to control the bad food I crave..it's been a difficult battle. My bff had no appetite after her surgery and was full after a couple spoonfuls of anything for months and months! I'm at a LONG stall too. From 3 1/2 weeks out till now..that's about s full month with a 12 pound loss post surgery. The only thing keeping me from a complete meltdown is that I'm losing inches :-) some of my tops just hang off me..thank goodness! Keep positive and good luck to us all :-)

    Stall ?

I stalled at 3 1/2 weeks with a measly 12 pound loss and the scale has not moved in over a month!! I'm doing everything I'm supposed to..protein..water..etc :-( the only thing keeping me sane is I AM losing inches..I am swimming in some of my tops :-) hang in there..keep reading positive posts!

    bye bye 200

I've been at a four week plus stall and have only lost 12 pounds post surgery BUT reading your post made me smile :-) I haven't seen anything under 200 in years..I know it'll happen! Thx for the happy post, it helped me through a rough spot :-)

    Grieving My Old Stomach

Long story short..it takes awhile emotionally and physically to stop mourning the old stomach and the old you and understanding and accepting the new one. I'm at seven weeks plus. After going through a rough healing process and the normal yet difficult liquid to puree to soft stages it/I have finally started to feel normal! I eat everything now. My only complaint is that I CAN eat everything and much more than I expected. It's still nowhere near what I ate before surgery but for instance my husband and I ordered a loaded pizza for dinner tonight. He had his usual two slices. I had one. I have accepted I'll never be one of these posters that eats two teaspoons and gets full. I haven't decided how I feel about that lol..but I can assure you..it gets better and you'll be happier :-) I had a really hard time with the food denial stages too. After the fourth week when you can start eating semi normally you'll definitely stay feeling less..sad..depressed..anxious..deprived etc :-) hang in there!
  11. Mine did the same plus it"exploded" a bunch of liquid..enough to soak a large gauze. It looked worse than it was. I called my doctor immediately and he said as long as it didn't smell bad or continue to leak profusely it was normal. He checked me out a week later and now it's fine. It's not pretty but it's healed.

    Ricotta Recipes?

Search ricotta bake and a really yummy recipe week pop up. I LIVED off that during the puree stage and still make it weekly. I modified the recipe for portion control and used muffin tins..sooo convenient. I also add shredded zucchini sometimes and/or chopped up turkey pepperoni pieces. I use 1/2 the amount of parm cheese that the recipe calls for and it still tastes amazing. Good luck!
  14. I don't think you can add much to the tomato sauce if you're full liquids besides maybe extra herbs..you may be able to get away with parm but I didn't add ricotta cheese until the puree stage. Tomato sauce can also be very acidic for some so take care when you have it :-)

    Hungry after eating!?

I was sleeved on May 1st. I am hungry a lot. I eat way more than I thought I'd be able to. My weight loss had been slooooooow going. I have only felt full twice since I've been sleeved. It seems that every individual is different and can tolerate foods at varying levels. Good luck on your journey :-)

    May sleevers results so far!

    I was sleeved May 1st and down 13 pounds from then :-( I've been at a 5? Week stall..it's getting depressing..I'm feeling..sad..?

    Chafing

You need to keep the area dry or it will become raw and painful. Are you able to put a papertowel under your belly and have it hold? Use powder but make sure the area is dry..if it becomes sweaty then the powder will turn paste-like..good luck :-)
  18. I'm almost seven weeks out and am having a hard time keeping my calories under 1,000! Don't worry the force feeding of calories will end soon enough lol :-) use it while you can! Peanut/almond butter, pureed canned chili, tuna regular mayo..
  19. I think you should go see a doctor. If you're out of town then go to the local walk in clinic. The web and this forum are great resources but a doctor would be able to properly diagnose and help your conditions. Good luck!
  20. Lexy and Lisa, I'm 5'2" and started at 248 highest weight. I lost about ten pounds during a 3 weeks pre-op diet..then you heard the rest :'( I use lose it to keep track of my protein and calories and fitness pal to help too. I am on my feet all day moving as I teach and also have a few herniated discs so sitting doesn't work for me. As far as my thyroid and other health issues that's the one bright spot in all this. I'm off diabetes medication, 1 of my pressure pills and have a new step down dosage for my thyroid as of last Thursday. I just don't get it..I'm really at a loss :'(
  21. I was sleeved May 1st. I have lost only 13 pounds post surgery. Those 13 pounds were in the first two weeks and I have been stalled for over a month! Needless to say, I am becoming very sad and frustrated :'( I've been following posts and trying to remain positive but two days ago I started feeling sick after I ate. I chalked it up to over zealous eating now that I can eat again and attended a party :-) yesterday I was a little queasy but didn't feel too badly then today I felt nauseous all day and threw up a little. The combination of not losing any weight and feeling physically ill is starting to send me to a bad place. I'm eating under 1,000 calories daily, get about 60g Protein and drink as much Water as I can. Any insights?
