How often do you weigh yourself? and not going crazy

Recommended Posts

I only weighed myself when I had my monthly checkup with the doctor and NUT. Now that I am only 8 pounds from my goal...my doctor said to only weigh myself once a week to see how I am doing. I think we can get ourselves nuts weighing ourselves too much. I am down 127 pounds since 10/15...

Fitbit is a measuring device that I wear everyday (attached to my bra so it is not visible) that tracks my steps, the number of flights of stairs, calories burned and my sleep efficiency. It has a gentle alarm that wakes you up at the time you set but in increments so that it does not disturb your deepest sleep cycles. It syncs with sparkpeople.com where I track my daily food, Water and exercise. It was only $99 and I really love it! There is a flower icon that grows as you get moving. It is one of the motivators to keep me moving and I enjoy seeing my progress every day. It is very accurate when capturing sleep modes of: awake, restless, sleeping. Always interesting to see that report in the mornings.

I don't own a scale nor am I interested in my weight. I weigh whenever I go to the dr's, if it's required. *shrug*

I am now almost 6 weeks out and I am still weighing every time I pp. every time I poop. When I take my mascara off. Before my shower. After my shower. In the middle of the night. My scale loss has been so slow but everyone is commenting and my clothes are too big. I just keep thinking I will get on there and wham 10 lbs gone.

Lol but why? You won't drastically lose lbs by peeing or pooping. If anything you are setting yourself up for disappointment for the next time you eat or drink and see a gain. At minimum, weigh once a week.

PS...mascara weighs a ton so....just kidding

My scale broke a few months ago and I'm refusing to buy a new one. Here in Florida, we have a grocery store that has a badass scale in every store. I usually do my grocery shopping elsewhere, but once every week to two weeks, I make it a point to pick something up there so I can use the scale. Ditching the scale was a great thing for me. I will probably be a daily weighed once I get closer to goal though, ugh.

I weigh every morning. I will continue to do that for ever. I would rather gain a pound and be able to work on that one pound then then wait a week gain 5. Then have to worry about getting 5 pounds off. I've had that happen my entire life first I was 5 over weigh then 15 then all of a sudden I weighed 318. I'm determined to say on top of it this time.

I'm sure I'll be one of those obsessive weighers.... naked, as soon as I wake up, before I pee, after I pee... definitely after a Poop. TMI, I know.... but it's the truth.

When I'm in loss (like right now) I either have to have my husband hide the scale or I have to remember that I'm only tracking my weight one day a week. Because my loss pattern fluctuates a lot and I can bounce as many as eight pounds overnight. It's maddening. So if the scale gets to you, put it away.

In maintenance it's another story. I weigh every single day to keep myself on track. It's one reason I feel like I never had an issue maintaining.

Now, if I could just shed these last couple of post pregnancy pounds, I could go back to having a better relationship with my scale again. You know, one where I'm not tempted to throw it out the window or break it into little pieces!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
