Hi, I am new here. I was banded in 2006, lost 90 lbs, was looking great at 180 lbs. Had some major life event changes, band was too tight, gained back almost 50 lbs over the years since. Doc recommending sleeve. I had a hard time after my band surgery, was in a lot of pain. Just wanted to know how you got through it and is the sleeve better than the band? Why, what are the differences. Were you in a lot of pain after band removal?Any info you can provide would be greatly appreciated. I guess I'm scared!

I was banded also in 2006 lost about 100 lbs the first year looked great at 180...I have since after also so life changing events and loosening my band and taking all the Fluid out for a year gained 80 lbs over the years. I am set for the sleeve tomorrow. My doctor said pain wise it is no different than how you felt after the lap band surgery. I just remember being sore! We will see in the morning I guess after my revision to sleeve!

Similar story. Revised on may 16 to sleeve. Not more painful. First two days gas pains are bad. Use the meds. I was back at my desk job four days post op. That was my last day of real soreness. No real pain after day two.

I got the band in 2010 lost 50 lbs and gain 20 back over the last year. I just had my revision 1 week ago and I think I had more pain with the band. Yesterday I started walking on the treadmill for a hour and I feel pretty much back to normal. Have lost 8.7 pounds already!!!

Hey there! Banded in 2007 and just had it removed and revised to a sleeve 5/20. I feel GREAT! The post surgery is a bit different, but I am so greatful for the good things I learned from my band. For instance, the post surgery eating doesn't bother me as much. I'm WAY more committed so the liquids, puréed, etc. doesn't concern me much. I know small is good. I also know that I needed a tool and the bypass would not have been a consideration. So, I'm very pleased and hope to continue forward. I'm down 9 lbs. and it's just my first week. Best of luck.

Thanks for all the replies! I will be attending a information meeting on Saturday for gastric bypass and sleeve. I am leaning more toward the sleeve. I just can't believe I will be going through a weight loss surgery AGAIN! After my band surgery, I thought I was done with fighting my weight battle. But I see it will be a battle for the rest of my life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
