Didn't clear my cardiac testing...so frustrated!

Recommended Posts

I went in today for my cardiac testing and never even made it on the bike because my BP was too high. They took it when I first got there and it was 130/94. By the time I got the EKG hooked up and they checked it it read 130/108. The only time I've ever had high BP was when I was pregnant. I've never been on meds or told it was something to watch. This totally threw me.

Now they want me to see a cardiologist for a stress test. The problem... my surgery is scheduled for June 10th. The soonest I can get in for a CONSULT with the cardiologist is next Tuesday the 4th. That's just the consult. If I can't get the stress test done before the 10th I'm screwed. The surgeon's office said they are scheduling for late July now so it would likely be August before I could get in if we have to change dates.

Talk about stressful. For about a week I've had sinus issues so I have to wonder if the meds I'm taking have messed with my BP. The tech said it was it was possible but they couldn't say. On top of that my Mom was in the hospital all last weekend, I was the one running back and forth checking on her AND I have 2 small kids that are a vortex all their own. AND I have to go into work tomorrow and ask for MORE time off. Lovely.

Sigh... I know they have to check me out and make sure it's safe for surgery.. I KNOW that... but I'm so damn pissed right now! I've been waiting 6+ months already and I just want to get this DONE! Thanks for letting me vent....

Sorry to hear this, I know the extra test can be stressful especially when you already have your surgery scheduled. The same thing happened to me when I got my endoscopy done they found ulcers so I had to take meds for 30 days. The day before my scheduled surgery date I had to get another endoscopy and found that the ulcer healed so I was cleared for surgery. Dont get discouraged, its better that you are 100%. I hope all goes well.

Are you taking sudafed? When I had a sinus infection, this caused my blood pressure to skyrocket and made the doctor at urgent care very concerned. But it went right back to normal afterwards. This is very common with sudafed.

No not Sudafed, just some Advil sinus stuff. I know they are just looking out for me but its just so frustrating.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
