Curiosity on your appearance

It must feel amazing to be under 200. I am still contemplating surgery and have been for over a year. I weigh 235 now but I have weighed as much as 278 in the past. I have been over 200 for at least 34 years. I am 56 now. Just wish I could get to the point to go through with the surgery. So much fear.

Don't be afraid. I am. 66 years old and weighed 275. My diabetes was out of control. I was on 150 units of insulin. Now 5 1/2 months later, I am down 66 lbs and only take 30 units of insulin. Have also been able to drop 4 medications. This is a life or death opportunity. And I chose life. I am very lucky.

If you have any questions just PM me and I will be glad to answer them.

My weight gain started with puberty, and I remember weighing exactly 200 in weight class in my senior year of high school. I'm now a couple pounds below 300 at 26 yrs old (hopefully I never see that 3!) so I have no idea at all what I'll look like after surgery.

I just expect to be more wrinkely (I'm 54) and have terrible sagging skin. I have never been pretty anyway so I will be a real mess- and I dont care. I have never been thin and I dont know if thats even possible for me- and I dont care. I just have to get this weight off.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
