New to vertical sleeve talk- need a revision

Recommended Posts

Hello all. I was so glad to find this forum. I had no idea there were so many others with similar situations. I was banded in 2007 and started having problems in 2008 and had a horrible situation with my surgeon so I lived with pain for as long as I could take it until 2010 when I sought out a revision surgeon. He immediately removed the Fluid and they tried to get the insurance to approve the revision 8 long months of testing and the insurance paying $25000 for tests the "denied" the revision. So I waited 3 years and got a new job and new insurance so we are trying again. They are already a little better because they at least have approved the band removal. I need to do a nutrition and psych appt and then they will apply for a redetermination with the new info. I have my psych appt on May 17th they said it will be two to two and half hours. Wow that is long. Was anyone else's that long? I have not gotten my nut appt yet. Still trying to get in with one. Earliest i have found that will do he baritrics is middle of June.... Anyway sorry so long but I have been through 6 years of trials.... Hoping to get this thing out and get my sleeve soon! And along the way I will be rooting for you guys to have success :)

Welcome to VST and many here are/have gone though the looooooong insurance process. I didn't, but I know how the band difficulties can be. Glad your going or the revision. Good luck!

Good luck - I am so happy we don't have to deal with these issues in Australia!!! My band was removed last month and on the 9th July my sleeve will be done. No fuss with anything for us unless we don't have private health insurance but once we have had it for 12 months at the top level we are right to go. I hope it all sorts out for you :-)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
