Surgery date set :) The journey continues...

Recommended Posts

Today I received the news. I'd finished all of the mandatory pre op tests, Doctor visits, nutritionist appointments, sleep apnea studies, and multiple blood suckings rituals. I'd started this journey after seeing a photo of myself at my 45th birthday. This foreign bloated woman, stomaches resting on the table, boobs resting on the stomachs resting on the table. I took a deep heavy breath, (this was my "IT" moment) and said to myself, "This will be the last year I Celebrate the day of my birth in a size 24...."

That was January 23. 2013.

Date of surgery is scheduled for June 11, 2013.

I will not be a size 24 on January 23, 2014.

:)

hope your surgery went perfect!

It was rough, shrink. Im in a lot of pain and feel very melancholy with the whole thing. I hada HORRIBLE first 3 days. I hit the regret stage already. I pray it gets better..

it will get a lot better. The first week is really the worst part. While I didn't regret it, I had to deal with the head stuff for the first couple of months (and still do sometimes) more wishing I could eat more then I can when something tastes awesome. But, the scale makes you forget about that as it keeps getting lower.

I'm here if you need someone to vent to or whatever. I know you're like 10 minutes or so from me.. If you need a walking buddy some time feel free to let me know.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
