  • Popular Post

Hello all! I've been reading the forum for the past couple of months, thank you all for the great advice and sharing your experiences. It's been very helpful and informative! I met with the surgeon a week ago today, my surgery date is June 26. Anyone else for June?

My doctors said to add protein as soon a I felt I could. So far I have only added a clear liquid protein to water and crystal light... The name of the protein is promod.... It goes down pretty easy

And mine says to add protein on day 5! LoL! It's funny how we all had the same thing done, but all different approaches to get back to "normal food."

It is amazing to see how all of the docs have different restrictions. I am just so happy tomorrow they are moving me up to full liquids. Who would think you would get excited to have milk, applesauce ect.

I was counting down the days until I got to do apple sauce and sugar free pudding! I could eat that and be happy! LoL!!!

Me too! But no applesauce for 3 weeks...

WOW!!! Don't think I could handle protein even today ... Sheesh

I use nectar protein. The lemonade one is great. Its no thicker than water and feels really good. I make mine into Popsicles.

Nectar is so yummy! I am using pink grapefruit right now!

I just got the ok to do strained puréed food. I can't bring myself to purée meat or eggs to the point of liquid, so I am sticking with puréed and strained yogurt and creamy soups and apple sauce. Next week I can have puréed food through a colander, like the consistency of stage 1 baby food. I don't feel hungry at all and have just been eating because I know I have to. It's still hard to get my liquids in. I had surgery on the 26th and had a large hiatal hernia repaired at the same time.

Try a vegetable puree, such as sweet potato, carrot, or cauliflower, with some unflavored protein powder added. You can add some chicken broth, butter, milk, or other seasonings. Also, I like pumpkin pie, so I was thinking of trying some pumpkin puree with vanilla protein powder & pumpkin pie spice. Could do an apple pie version with applesauce, vanilla powder, & apple pie spice.

Hi Julia,

I had my surgery June 25th and no puree for me yet :-( but I was ok'd to eat yogurt on day 4... Weird huh? But it takes 45 mins to eat 4-6oz container. I have been drinking Lean Shakes they have 25g of protein only 170 calories and 2g of sugar.... They taste good and it sets well so I gave 2 of those a day and about 64oz of water

But yeah every doctor is different so different orders...Im stuck in full liquids for another week.

How do you get in 64oz of water?

Had surgery on the 25th as well. The most I've drank is about 16 oz and maybe just a swallow or two of protein. Even the unflavored protein that used prior to surgery does not sit well. I'm just not hungry. Down 13.80 lbs since surgery.

How do you get in 64oz of water?

I've been getting my 64oz in since the beginning. I start sipping as soon as I wake up and stop about an hour before bed. I typically get 72-80 oz a day.
