Thinking of popping out another.

Recommended Posts

My husband and I were talking about how we wanted another baby but we dont want to wait that much longer. I am about 3 months out and I still have 60ish lbs to go. If for some reason, we did decide to try, would my weight loss pick up where i left off before pregnancy? I know ill have to shed some baby weight, but Im concerned with losing that fast rate of loss the first six months. Just convince me I should wait a year post op. CONVINCE ME PEOPLE!

Pregnancy issues won't be a concern for me since I'm old ;)

My Dr has not advised for 12-18 months after surgery but I don't think it's due to weight issues but due to your new tummy healing, etc...

Wait. I'm 5.5 months out and we're going to wait until I'm closer to where I want to be. You had a life-changing surgery. Let it do its work so that you're not taking off the weight you have now PLUS baby weight afterwards. Let it just be babyweight.

I know it's hard to resist the thought of having a cute/sweet little baby, but waiting is best for the health of your baby, which is paramount. Plus, for your own sake, you really need to take full advantage of that six month honeymoon right after surgery, because it will never be this easy again. Good luck!

You also have the baby to consider. It's good for your weight loss to wait, but you also need to be able to consume the nutrients and calories needed to support another life, and early out from surgery, that's much more difficult.

I'm sorry that you did not think of this before surgery... But what's done is done. There are a few people around here that accidentally became pregnant in the first year but it does not come without risks! Not to you so much but to the baby! Not worth it right? Wait you will be better off for it and so will your future baby. My children are six years apart! And they still love each other and actually have days where the get along and hang out together :) it's ok to space them out a bit, so if that's your concern don't worry.

Just from this morning.. Check out this thread.

We did discuss it before I had surgery. A lot. Mind you I already have a 7 month old, so it's not like I'm dying to get pregnant. It's just something we started discussing again today, because I know I want to have more in the near future, just trying to figure out when's a good time to start. I'm thinking when he's 18 months. That puts me at 14 months post op.

I say go for it! It's your decision and no one else's.. Everyone's body is different, your baby will be just fine. People need to relax a bit.

My doc says to wait at least 12 months, so your plan sounds great! I have 4 boys. They are 11, 7, 5, and almost 3. My 5 and 7y old are only 20 months apart, and it is special, so I get why you want to try again, but 12 months is healthier for the baby, 14 is even better :).

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
