Cravings and appetite before surgery.

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I'm not yet sleeved, have made the decision to have surgery as soon as we finish relocating between states. My question to all is this, did anyone of you have any cravings or maybe notice you apetite get out of hand?

I find eating like a crazy person. I will be paying for the surgery out of pocket since my insurance sucks and will not pay for any of it, I am looking to be sleeved by the end of this year, I am just so fearful that I will end up becoming so much bigger before I start this process.

Tell you the truth my wait time was only 3 months but ended up being 5, That last month is when the food funerals started. Everything I loved to eat and every place I liked we went to. I wouldn't say I over ate I just ate what I wanted. But now that I know the calories in restaurant food I probably ate a lot.

But the day I started the liquid diet I did not cheat for 2 weeks. I am 5 months out and down 66 lbs. I have not been this low for 40 years. I would do it all over again.

Try to get your head straight before you have the surgery. You have to work the program for it to be successful.

Keep in touch.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
