My uncle had surgery and went back the next monday. I am two weeks post op and have one more week off. My job is very active and I still get exhausted

I went back to work after 4 weeks after having a c-section. I plan on only taking off 1-2 weeks before going back--I also have an easy desk job, so that helps.

My doctor advised me to take at least 2 weeks. I think you will need more than 3 days to adjust...pain meds+liquids only=fatigue!

I was able to do more today with pain meds only once @ 5 days postop. The only pain I have is left shoulder.

I needed 2 weeks but my surgeon gave me 5 weeks. I was really sick the first week. The second week, I was sore and getting used to my sleeve. It was nice being off work!

I'm planning on taking two weeks. Someone I work with had band to sleeve revision and was back to work within a couple days of being released from the hospital. We have sit down jobs but work 12 hour shifts. I think she was nuts though. My doctor said that a minimum of one week off was needed.

I took 3 weeks off. Went back to work, at a school, and caught a stomach virus. Ended up in the hospital and getting a 4th week off. Because of lack of energy, trying to eat right and getting in your fluids, which is demanding in itself, and the possibility of injury, take at least 2 weeks off.

I have a desk job too, I thought I could get away with one week I was wrong. The first week is all fluids and you are so tired and I was overwhelmed with just getting my fliuds in, I'm grateful I took two weeks

I have a desk job and I was going to try go one week - wound up taking 3. I was exhausted and it also took some time to get used to the new diet.

I was very anxious to get back to work, and wanted to take a week or less off. But, I took a full 2 weeks...the beginning of the 2nd week I called and said I couldn't return yet. Although that made coming back to work much harder, I was very happy I took the extra week. It gave me more time to learn my limits and just focus on myself. I think coming back on a Monday after a Friday surgery is way too soon, no matter how well you heal. I talked with someone who had a lapro appendectomy around the same time I had my sleeve, and based on how he recovered, I think that surgery is lots easier to bounce back from than the sleeve. He was back to work in 2 days.

Possibly. I'm a network engineer and work out of my home office. I had surgery on a Tuesday morning, was discharged Wednesday afternoon and was doing some work Thursday evening even though I took 2 weeks off. Friday, I was up and about playing tour guide for my friend who flew out to be with me for my surgery.

That being said, I didn't have to deal with driving or commuting and could lounge around in sweats and a t-shirt so that certainly makes things easier. I've talked with others in my program and had surgery the same time I did and my situation is definitely an outlier. Most people needed more time to get up and around than I did. So, while it's certainly possible that you could be ready to go back into the office after three days, I wouldn't necessarily bank on that.

I am post op day 4 everyone is different day 2 I thought I was dying. Days 3-4 have been so much better. Thank God!!! I'm scheduled to go back in a week but if I had to I could go tomorrow...granted I would have to work an sit some but I could get my job done....on the other hand my boss is post op 12 days an is taking another week off....point being everyone is different just listen to your new body! sleeved on a Wednesday and went back to work on Monday. I have desk job. I was fine but would not recommend it for everyone.

I had my surgery on Wednesday and am going back to work tomorrow Monday. I feel fine with no pain. I work as a secretary so I'll be sitting for most of the day.

Does everyone going back after a couple days have a drain? I will still have my drain in until Tuesday.

I would think that would be too soon. I am having a band removal/GS done in the morning...when i got my band on a Thursday I was back at work the following Tuesday but slow moving (desk job) and tired. This time I will not be returning for seven days.
