Recommended Posts

Hi there, I was sleeved on Tuesday April 23rd. It now Saturday and well I'm still very sore and tender. I stayed 2 nights in the hospital and was happy to be home thursday! No nausea thank god! Not sure if I'm getting enough Water in. Very hard to sip all day.

I was sleeved Tues too. No nausea either. Everything went like it was supposed to. Home Thurs. And sore today still. However I woke this morning feeling tighter like its healing. I haven't been getting enough fluids or Protein. Making effort to do better today. Wondering about gas in your abdomen. I'm still a little distended and some is probably swelling. Is this still normal?

I still feel a bit swollen as well. Walking will get that gas moving and out of your abdomen. I try to get up and do little walks often around the house and outside! Tight feeling as well. I have some bruising. The Water and Protein are very hard. I know I'm not getting enough either yet.

I've been making laps around house but plan on a short walk outside today. Sounds like we're on track ... Which is great!

And the Protein Shakes. I had found some I actually liked. Now they don't taste the same and are really hard to get down. Anethesia can temporarily change your taste, wonder if that's what's going on.

Yeah I heard our tastes could change after the surgery. I like the Oh Yeah Cookies n cream shakes or the muscle milk chocolate. It kind of has a hint of coconut flavor to it! I dont think my tastes have changed much. What does your doc have you doing for liquids? I'm supposed to be drinking a cup of Water every 2 hours and then 3 times a day drink 3 oz of Protein Shake. I think I need more Protein than that. I get hungry in between.

I'm on Phase I - Clear Liquids and Phase II - apple sauce, yogurt, Protein Shakes, pudding.... The less clear it is the more I have trouble getting it down and give up trying. 64oz liquids and 75-90g Protein. They also said that the soft liquids count towards total fluids except for the ones you can't see thru, like yogurt, pudding. shakes are fluids.

Yesterday was first I counted since surgery. Got in about 50 and it was first time I'd experienced anything close to nausea or stomach discomfort. Trying to spread it out better today. It's just so heavy on my stomach. Maybe I'm going to fast. Milk and other things have some Protein in them too. All we can do is try and then try to do better tomorrow.

Surgery was 4/23 also. I had a complication and was back in the ER within 8 hours of discharge and stayed 2 more days. I was horrified to see that I had gained 18 pounds in 3 days from all the IV fluids. I lost that in 5 days and have since lost another 7 pounds. I'm doing great, no adverse effects from the complication and I can't wait to see what the future had in store for me!

Wow Justinelli, I'm so sorry to hear you had to go back in to the ER. What was your complication? My first week sucked, I felt like I was hit by a truck! I couldn't sit and drink all day. I felt like a fish. I too had gained from I've fluids but it was only a couple of pounds. It's crazy to think now its only been 2 weeks today since surgery and down 20lbs!!! I haven't had any real complications. Just that horrible burpy feeling if I take to big of a sip or drink or eat yogurt to fast. I have found that if I get all my 60gm + of Protein in I feel pretty good. I also don't feel as hungry anymore throughout the day like I did my first week. I will say I would really like something to chew lol in terms of real food. I have started a scrambled egg. Had my first one yesterday and one this morning for Breakfast. That has gone down pretty well. I chew and squish it till its barely nothing before I swallow. And one egg fills me. It's hard though not to drink while eating. I'll have to work on that.

Hope everything is better now!

Happygirlwv, how are you doing? Still working on getting all that Fluid in? I kinda gave up on the counting part. It's a lot for me to sip all day. I do drink a lot don't get me wrong but stopped trying to get to the 64 oz. it's impossible for me.

Hope you doing well!

I was also sleeved on 4/23. I am down 19lbs from the night after surgery with all the fluids. It's virtually impossible to get in everything I'm supposed to get in. I also had a hiatal hernia that was unknown before surgery. Recovery has been a process. Some days are great while others are horrible. I somehow busted an internal stitch on Sunday. Boy that is NO fun. I am back at work and pressing on. The scale continuing to go down has been great motivation and reward for enduring the pain. Good luck everyone. It's nice to know there are others on the same track!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
