I can't take my Vitamins. They make me sick, like close to puking sick - and that is just chewing them up without swallowing. Disgusting.

Problem is that I cannot have iodine in any of my vitamins, because I'm allergic to it (and also to fish/shellfish), so I'm very limited on a Multivitamin. Given the fact that I'm supposed to take nothing but chewables, I'm even more screwed. I researched all the Vitamin sites for weeks on end, and all I found that I could take was Bellybar Prenatal Vitamins. And, seeing as they make me sick, now those are out.

Looks like it is going to have to be Gummy or nothing. I'm so annoyed that they make tons of gummy vitamins without iodine but, like, no chewables at all.

Do you take gummy vitamins? I know a lot of NUTs don't approve of them, as they're not "complete." I can supplement with additional vitamins to make my vitamins complete, though. I'm not worried about that. It just looks like, at this point, it's going to have to be gummy or nothing. Bah. E-mailing my nutritionist but just wanted to see if anyone here takes gummies.< /p>

I also have the problem that regular Vitamins make me sick. Like, literally throwing up within minutes of taking them, sick. Most (not all) gummy vitamins I can tolerate without getting sick. My doctor told me to just stick with the Gummy vitamins. He said he normally doesn't recommend them because they aren't complete, but that in my case taking them was better than taking nothing. I also try to eat really clean, nutritionally dense foods in addition to them. So far my vitamin/mineral levels have been fine. Good luck!!

I'm curious about this as well. I'm currently using Gummy Fiber supplements, but I'm pre- op. I hate chewable stuff. HATE. That chalky texture grosses me out, so I can only imagine that it's going to be worse post op.

I know that the gummy Vitamins are usually less potent, so I'm not sure if that's the reason they don't recommend them or if it has to do with the actual 'gummy' part, like if they are worried it won't digest properly or get stuck. But I chew my Fiber gummy til it's practically liquid, so I don't see how it could harm me post op - then again, I'm not a doctor, so what do I know?

I think if gummy is all you can take, then it's better than nothing. Definitely check with your NUT and see what they suggest. Also, puritan.com has a lot of liquid Vitamin choices: http://www.puritan.c...ter=Form|Liquid. I'm not as savvy as to what our Multivitamins should have in them, so I don't know which one to recommend, but they have several, so there has to be SOMETHING in there that will work.

Good luck to you, update us on what your NUT comes up with. :)

I take all Gummy Vitamins and my surgeon only said to make sure I chew them up really well before swallowing. I use the multivites gummies and the only thing they don't have in them compared to Flinstones complete is Iron. I was just sleeved on Monday and don't have any issues taking them. Are any of you I'm northern Cali? I found a store that carries them and other Calcium chews and they are very reasonably priced.

I attached a picture for you the chews were 2.99 and the others were 5.99 a bottle

They may not be complete, but it's better than nothing at all, right? And, if your labs come back off, you can always add in a separate Vitamin of whatever you're lacking. :)

Heck, I'll even stick those gummy vites in my Magic Bullet and pulverize the heck out of them. Shouldn't be a problem then. ;)

I have a Facebook group for March, April, and May 2013 sleevers. It's an awesome support group! If you'd like to join (I saw you're scheduled for the beginning of May), you're more than welcomed to. :)

Those are some of the ones I was looking at! Thanks for the photo. I'll definitely keep them in mind. I don't understand if surgeons approve the calcium chews (like the Bariatric Advantage chewy bites and Calcium chews) why gummy multivitamins are such a big deal.

I'm curious as to why you have to take chewables in the first place. I was swallowing capsules the day after my surgery although the doctor said if I had a lot of swelling (which I didn't) that I would have had to wait up to two weeks to start capsules. If the doctor or nutritionist tells you it's because your stomach can't break them down, I'd question it because when I did a test of the Bariatric Advantage capsules, they dissolved enough in plain to release the powder inside in about six minutes.. so surely in your stomach with even a little acid and some food rolling around in there, it's going to break it down even faster! They may have a good reason why you can't take the capsules but I'd want to know exactly why they've forbidden them.

I take Bariatric Advantage capsules. no iodine and I take six small capsules a day.. I break them down into three two capsule doses.

I'm almost 2 weeks out. My surgeon wants me to crush all my medications for now. Not sure why they want chewable vites, though. I'll find out at my check-up on Friday.

I originally bought the Bariatric Advantage chewable multivites after they (Bariatric Advantage/Catalina Lifesciences) ENSURED me that none of their products contain fish or seafood (both, of which, I'm allergic to + iodine.) They're liars. Once I got the bottle and opened it, I realized it said it contains fish in the allergen label. I was so mad! Over $20 wasted for no reason. So frustrated!

My NUT just e-mailed me back and told me that I can take Gummy vites but that I need to add a b1 thiamin supplement to it, because the gummies don't contain thiamin so I will be at risk for thiamin defiency.

Woohoo! Small victories. Going to start taking them on Friday after I confirm w/ my surgeon that I can go ahead and take them since I'm still on liquids.

I haven't pooped in a weed and I'd love a 4 pound poo right now lol

      2. ms.sss

Lol, yeah, I've been known to drop 3-ish lbs after a good (and long awaited) poop.

.....or even after a moderate to severe dumping episode. yikes.

Those are championship cups for both you guys! :) I personally came up a 1.4lb winner this morning. ;) hehehehe.

I met with my surgeon on Friday.. I've completed all my tests and all my nutrition meetings as well as meeting the weight loss requirements for my insurance. We are officially submitting to insurance for approval and I was given a surgery date of January 16th 2020 (13 days before my birthday!) Fingers crossed all goes through

Ok, now im getting old...my body gets me up at my normal 5am dog walk even when it's the weekend, vacation, and most importantly when I'm sick. So now that I have more energy, my body wants to make sure I suffer even longer during the day when I have a cold! Damn being healthy again! (:D)
