Next week is going to be hell. I have to turn in two take-home final exams, homework for one class, and send all the grades for my students to their professors. I have my psych evaluation in Nashville, TN on Tuesday, pulmonology clearance in Lexington, KY on Wednesday, and have to be back in Nashville on Thursday for my nutritionist evaluation and surgeon consultation. Those two cities are about 4 hours apart. Lots of driving in my future.

Whooo! I am tired out just hearing you! I remember working all through college, carrying a 16 hour load, and of course time for friends and a social life. Everytime I sat down for more than a couple of minutes, I fell asleep. Looking back with the energy of a signficantly older person, sometimes I wonder how I did it. :-)

What do you listen to when you drive? My ususal plan is to stock the car with music I love to sing along to. I crank it up and let 'er rip! Now there's satellite radio, so my favorite station never goes away. Hmmm. Maybe I should plan a road trip soon??

We're rooting for you here and think how nice the Christmas break is going to be -- right after you wake up!

I usually try to find a nice classic rock station or listen to CDs. I really want to get satellite radio, but I have been to ceap to get it yet. Maybe that's what I should ask for for Christmas, have my family go in together on that instead of getting me a couple of smaller gifts. I am SO looking forward to a break. Not that it will be much of one, since I have to get started on my thesis and prepare a presentation for the beginning of February.

Excellent idea for a family gift to you! They'lkl be happy to get you what you really want and you'll be thrilled! I'm listening to New Country now on Sirius. What's funny is I am a die-hard R&B, Soul, Motown music fan, but someone turned me onto New Country and I lost my heart.

Now, about that comment about it won't be much of a break because.....

You're right, it won't be much of one if you are already worrying about the next thing! . It's like planning on sticking yourself with a sharp stick!

Here's a radical thought. What if you had your Christmas break be about taking care of yourself, doing things that refresh your spirit and renew you;and if it looks like a serious task, or an "ought to", lay down until that moment passes? :)

If you can do that, you will be in much better shape to do all that thesis thinking.

Think about it?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
