Are there any people 500 lbs + that have been sleeved? Results please

Recommended Posts

Are there any sleevers out there that weighed over 500 lbs? Im really interested in knowing if you had to go back for the 2nd half of surgery or did you lose enough with just the sleeve? Please let me know what to expect, I have ALOT of weight to loose!

I've seen several people on this board who started with BMIs in the 70s and 80s.. You should also look in the sub forums... there is a board for people with 200+ pounds to lose and that's where a lot of us high BMI'rs like to hang.

Hi,

This would be a great question for your surgeon. I think its hard to predict whether you would need to get the second part of the procedure. Maybe you can provide more info about your eating habits and why you think you are overweight? Sometimes that helps people give more feedback about their own experiences.

I think the sleeve is great, and its an added bonus that you can have the 2nd part done if you stop losing! Can't say that about RNY.

I know of 2 sleevers that started at 600lbs+. The most memorable to me is Patrick Curl. Unfortunately they are too busy living life to keep us updated.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
