I feel like I earned a Ph.D from Vertical Sleeve Talk

Today was my pre-op class and I felt like I was so much more ahead of the game than some of the other people attending. The only thing I can say is thank you to this forum and everyone who posts. Some people in the class had no idea they would need Protein Shakes after surgery. Thanks to you all I have ordered my Unjury and Premier shakes. I also have a pretty good idea of what to expect after surgery. I'm just blessed to have found this site. :)

I feel the same way. It is almost disappointing to be in the room w/ others & you know soooooo much & they don't understand the concept of bariactric Vitamins.

Agreed! At 3mths away from my third year anniversary, I am still learning! This site is a great source of encouragement, information and support.

I found it a few weeks post op, wish I had the knowledge pre op though.

I definitely feel very knowledgeable about the surgery and its aftermath after hanging out around here for nearly a year, and it was very much a part of me making the final decision to move forward with it. I love the fact that it ISN'T all sweetness and light here - we do get to hear the ugly side of things. But we can also hear the really good stuff, and we know the amount of work we're in for.

Kudos to everyone on the site who is willing to share details, vent, cheer, and cry together. I hope you realize what a difference you're making by doing so!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
