Well, I think I'm just about ready for one of the biggest decisions I've made in my life. I went shopping and got most everything I needed for post op recovery. Down to my fuzzy slippers. Lol. I took a snap shot of some of my things and posted it to my page. I figure if I have to eat and drink like a baby I might as well do it with cute stuff. Hello Kitty sippy cup, plate, fork and spoon. Teehee. Feel free to browse my items and if you think I'm missing something chime in. I'll gladly take advice. 3 days till surgery.

LOL! Good luck on your surgery! I am 5 days post op and am anxiously awaiting the next step. The liquid diet is getting old! My husband went out and bought me a really cute sippy cup though! :) After my surgery the hospital gave me a special plate with areas drawn for different foods. It is sooooo cute! Can't wait to use it! God Bless You!

Thank you so much! I love my Hello Kitty sippy cup. I tried it out last night. It's not so bad. That's so cool they gave you a special plate. I'm getting rather tired of the Protein Shakes myself but I know it's all worth it in the end. I'm sticking to the diet religiously. I want to get to the point where food no longer controls my life. Where I only consume it for fuel/necessity. Not because I'm so in love with eating.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
