Overweight Teens in America on CBS News

Did anybody see that news story with Katie Couric last night? They were doing a three part segment about teen's and obesity in america and yesterday was part 2 and they showed two teens that got lapband and how well it worked for them but they didn't go into enough specifics in my opinion. They did state though that it's reversible but at the end Katie is like "that seems pretty drastic! but I guess it works for them"

I didnt see the program but Katie is a little out there sometimes, she could never relate to how it feels to be obese, even if she was fully informed, about the band and the fact that it can be removed, so what if it is a drastic move, it needs to be sometimes so they can at least live!! I dont really care if others think it is desparate or drastic, I am worth every last measure to better myself and my health, Maybe some others are happy to see the results, and get the band too!

I didn't see the whole thing but hubby called to me when it was on "hey is this what you're getting?" LOL Geesh I love that man! I thought they could have gone into it alittle deeper. Have you seen the new commercials with the lion?

The lion commercial is on www.lapband.com that's Inamed's site.I wish the band had been available to me as a teen, life would have been so much better. ~Mandy

I totally agree Mandy. I haven't seen the lion commercial.

I just don't feel people understand that it's not even close to as drastic as gastric bypass.

I so would have gotten the band - certainly after college if nothing else - if only it had been available.

Not sure who said we should all be banded at birth - but in my family - it certainly would have been helpful! 4 out of 5 women in my family weigh well over 200 lbs. 3 out of five have topped 300.

Genetics & Environment working together to create MO bodies.

Ick!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
