Recommended Posts

1. I want to be able to cross my legs like a lady.

2. I want to be able to tie my shoes with getting short of breath

3. To be able to buy a pair of knee boots that fit my calves.

4. I want to graduate out of "granny panties"

5. I want to be able to wear bracelets that don't need the "extra link".

6. I want to loose that "buffalo hump" on the back of my neck.

7. Buy a pair of pants off the "regular" rack.

8. Raise my arms or walk without worrying that my "shirt is riding up", and

my butt is showing.

9. Not be the "fat girl" in every photo.

10. Ride in an airplane without a "seatbelt extender".

I guess I could go on and on....but these are some of the things I think about, dream about and hope for. ;)

I'm nearly at goal weight now, so I've enjoyed lots and lots of NSV's. But really from hereon in, weight is actually pretty irrelevant to me, its NSV's I'm after.

1. I want to get rid of those annoying poochy bits - the muffin top, the jiggly bits on the sides of my butt and that last stubbourn pocket of fat on my belly. I'm realistic about not looking like a supermodel though.

2. I want more MUSCLE. I really want to still change my body composition quite substantially although this may not involve a lot of actual weight loss

3. I want to be in an Australian size 14.

4. I want all this by next week. Sigh. I know it will probably realistically take me another year to hone my body to what I want it to be. I've done the big weight loss bit, now's the time for the sculpting and toning.

5. Next October I want to run my first half marathon.

I have so many, but I have already acheived a lot as well.

Yet to do:

1) Wear size 34 wiast pants

2) To not be considered obese or overweight on the BMI scale

3) To be able to fly and not need an extender or to crowd fellow passengers (have not flown since surgery)

4) Look in the mirror and see myself as normal

Already accomplished:

1) No longer have to shop at a Big/Tall clothing store

2) Sit at any resteraunt booth

3) Sit in a seat at a sporting event or concert and feel comfortable

4) Have a better and more meaningful sex life with my wife

5) Have the energy to keep up with my kids

6) Not be seen as the jolly fat guy

7) Not be empbarrassed to have my picture taken

I am sure there are others that I am not listing, but these are the highlites. Thanks for a great thread.

"funnier sex". I am getting a vision - big long shoes - red ball noses.... Hey - it's funny to me. Thanks for the chuckle, Julie.

After a mere 40 pounds -

Knee Pain is all but gone and general well being is much improved.

Seatbelt extenders only required depending on the type of plane.

I can find more than 1 item of clothing that fits on any given shopping excursion and I can fit into all my clothes again.

People are noticing me more and noticing my weight loss

Future NSV Goals:

no more seatbelt extender on any plane

frilly girl matching undies

size 12-14

get hit on in a bar. (yeah - I know - I am happily married - but it's a vanity thing. I would turn him down, very sweetly.)

Not having to worry about killing the hydraulics in my office chair.

Not being the fattest person in any room.

I know there are thousands more - but these are what come to mind right now.

1. Be able to get a job with my Criminal Justice degree in corrections or probation, and not being disqualified due to my weight or weight related issues.

2. I want to shop at a mens big and tall store because I am tall.

3. I'd like to be able to fit on rides at Disneyland and Disneyworld that I can't go on because of my weight. (I'm too tall for others, the lap bars won't go down over my knees, and I can't change that!)

4. I'd like to feel like I belong in my skin.

5. I'd like my back, and knee joint pain to go away.

This is a great thread! I think I shall put in my fourpenneth.

NSV's suprisingly already achieved!:

1) Dropped 2 dress sizes

2) Able to lie in my bath with space either side and don't have to heave my heavy bod out. In fact in some ways that was easier lol, now I have to rely more on my shoddy knees, it takes me longer to get out because the bath sides aren't supporting me doh!

3) Wearing boots without cutting off my circulation! My calves are now just the muscle not the flab that hdad creeped on as well!

4) Standing on a scales and being elated with the result.

NSV's to be achieved:

1) To get down to a size 14 (UK) Currently 18 so have another 2 dress sizes to go.

2) Being at a healthy BMI.

3) The ability to wear my mums diamond ring.

4) To be able to stand in front of a cmarea and not feeling like I am in front of a firing line.

5) To be able to look at a pic of me nad smile instead of feeling that I have ruined what could have been a great picture.

6) To go to Disney and have all the photos taken that were done last time and being happy to put them on display! (This one may take a long time to achieve)

7) To go out on a date.

8) To have confidence to know that I am beautiful

9) To feel human again. (Sheesh I have some issues! :Banane17: )

I am sure there will be a lot more NSVs as the days and months go by but these are all I can think of at the mo. S0rry for prattling on ;)

I just want to look like I used to look. About 3 years ago. I know that I may have some loose skin but I don't think it will be very much. I may just have it removed later on if I do have any.

I want to wear a size 10 in anything

I want to wear sleeve less and feel HOT!

I have a backless shirt that I used to wear, I want to wear it eventually.

I liked that comment about being hit on in a bar. I think I want that too. (I am also married but, what fun)

Go back to my hometown and NOT duck behind stuff when I see someone I know.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
