5 More Days to Soft Food - Can I make it?

Recommended Posts

I'm absolutely starving. I have to wait 5 more days before I can start soft foods. I'm on full liquids and its not enough. I'm hungry and have no energy. Any advice?

I'm so sorry you are having a hard time. What a great loss you have so far!!

Are you getting in your Protein? Also were you put on any PPI after surgery? (Priolosec etc)

If you know it not to be acid (which can mimic hunger pains) try adding some Protein powder to some sugar free pudding. Or adding a shake to your day. How much Water are you getting in?

You can do this, you'll find what works for you. Keeping asking the questions, someone will be able to help.

My surgeon only had us on all liquids for 3 days post op. Then from day 3-6 you were allowed yogurt, hot cereals and no sugar added applesauce. Thwn from day 7 to 49 its soft foods. I see on here a lot how people can't eat soft foods for a while. Funny how different surgeons are

Thanks for your responses. I've been getting about 50 grams of Protein a day. I have two more days of liquids. I've been on liquids for 19 days and I'm so over the liquids! I definitely need to drink more Water. I've been thinking about eating some eggs and grits but I'm scared!! Do you think I should try some soft foods two days early or just suck it up for two more days?

No, I haven't been on any PPI since my surgery. My surgeon requires full liquids for 3 weeks after surgery and then soft foods for an additional 3 weeks. I'm not supposed to have any Jello or pudding for two more days. But I'm very tempted to have something more than liquid Protein drinks!

Thanks for the encouragement and congrats on your amazing weight loss!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
