Post tummy tuck; new restriction?

Recommended Posts

Helloah!

Just a quick call out to anyone who has had a TT post sleeve.

I am now 5 days post op TT (2 1/2 yrs post sleeve) and I've noticed a huge difference in how my sleeve is handling food.< /p>

I've never had real issues with acid, heartburn or indigestion but since my TT I do! It is really nasty too, with a terrible feeling of being sick, although I have not vomited. Once I've eaten I get nasty acid and awful wind, not very lady like but amuses my kids and hubby no end.

Also, I can't eat as much- it's like a new sleeve, to the extent that today has mostly been a liquid day. I'm planning a small (even for me) evening meal. I think I will do the same for the next few days to try to avoid the painful acid.

Just wondering if others have had the same experience?

Any comments or suggestions, as always, appreciated.

Cheers in advance.

its probably a reaction to the anesthesia... I cant see how it would be related to the TT in any other manner... in any case hope you get relief soon..

I agree with vogue- I don't understand the connection but congrats on your new tummy! It means you've really "arrived"!

Yea, prob the anaesthesia (sp).

Only had two ops in my life, this & the sleeve so I have no other comparison.

Just wondered if anyone else felt the same thing. Not complaining though. The liquid has defo helped today.

My plastic surgeon said it is common to eat less after a Tummy Tuck and that it will cause more restriction! :) I had acid issues my first week post op as well, I think for me, it was a combination of the anesthesia & that I actually got sick the first couple days after which irritated my sleeve. I took Prevacid for a week and was much better :)

Phew! Thanks for letting me know I'm not alone with this...did it just last a week? I've had a crumpet for Breakfast, a rare 'treat' and I'm stuffed!

Yes round about... But I still wasn't able to eat too much once the reflux settled because my doc puts you on two different antibiotics, Valium, and pain killers every 4 hours... So I basically ate mostly pills the first 10 days + haha

I know the feeling...lol! The best advise I had was keep up with the pain killers, I'm on co coda mol and slowly reducing it.

How did you find the swelling? When did you see a difference?

Thanks for your help

Don't mind helping at all! :) I was SUPER swollen the first month, by eight weeks I pretty much would wake up with very little swelling at the bottom of my abdomen and by night be more swollen (depending on the days activities). My doc said this can last 6 months or so. And I've never heard of that painkiller, it's not an NSAID is it? I was on oxycodone the first few weeks and then stepped it down to Vicodin until about 8 weeks. I'm feeling better & better everyday! :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
