New Kid Trying To Get On Track

Recommended Posts

I finally decided to write a little about myself. I am a very private person. The only person that know that I am doing the sleeve is my mom, dad, brother, grandma, and my best friend. Of course my boss and a co-worker now, because of all the doctor's appointments and diet changes. I am a 29 year old single mom to a wonderful 7 year old son. I love anything outdoors, but I have been overweight my whole life. I have always felt like I was missing out on things. I never really had a click in high school, because I was overweight. I don't really have many friends, because I don't like going out, because I don't feel comfortable in most of my cloths. I decided it was time for a change. I went to my first seminar in January. I decided on the lap band, but the more I read the more I changed my mind. I finally decided to go with the sleeve. I was 265 lbs on my first doctor's appointment in January. I am down to 253 as of March. I was put on a Protein Shake, yogurt diet, and a very light dinner. This was a MAJOR change for me. I am a fast food junkie. Well I WAS a fast food junkie. When I show my VSG doctor in January he told me I had to loose 25lbs before the surgery. I thought I was doing good, but my pre-op is 04 April and I still have almost 15lbs to go. So I called the doctor's office and they put me on a 920 calorie diet. Which consist of a Protein shake for Breakfast, 6oz yogurt for morning snack, protein shake for lunch, 6oz chicken/beef broth for afternoon snack and protein shake for dinner, and a sugar free Jello for evening snack. Even though the scales are showing 10lbs I feel like I have lost more. I normally wear a snug size 20, but I recently went to Torrid and bought a size 16 in shorts. They are a little loose, but that is because they have elastic. I am so neverous about everything. I feel like I have days when I want to quit and give up. I wish I had a personal cheering team. My mom has been great, but she doesn't understand why I am not loosing weight. I hate exercising, but I really want to try. Walking is not my thing, so I bought a treadmill. I love line dancing, but they only offer classes on Tuesday and Wednesday and I have to be at work at 7am. Can someone give me some advice, and tell me what really helps! I am getting really worried that I will be denied surgery, because I have not lost the weight yet.

1st of all...welcome! :) &...we'll be your cheer section!!! :)

Stick to the diet. The weight will fly off when you're not looking, especially with the Protein shakes & non-starchy veggies. Celebrate your NSV s & ignore the naysayers. :) Just stay on track & you'll make your next 15#. You still have a couple weeks, so just don't let the nag voice in your head mess with you. :)

Thank you so much for the encouraging words! That is why I joined this site; people on here have been there and understand how I am feeling. One of the older ladies I work with is like my second mom. She has been very supportive. She always listens to how I am feeling and she tries to encourage me and check on me on the weekends. It is nice to see the people are here to support you. I just am a very private person and writing that was my biggest step.

I do have a strange question! :) Did you want to buy new cloths when you started slowly watching weight drop. I have been horrible, because the scales are not moving, but my cloths are getting looser, so it makes me want to buy new cloths. I HATE shopping, but when I went to Torrid on Friday and found that I was in a size 16 short and not a size 20; I bought 3 pairs of shorts, but I look at it as though this is my reward. I don't buy fast food, I drink Protein, and chicken broth, and yogurt, so this could be my bad habit. I just need some advice on this. I know these are just questiosn running thru my head. :)

Welcome! I know how you feel about being a private person.....so am I so I have only told a few people because having this surgery was a very difficult decision for me and I didn't 't want my decision to be influenced by negativity. Keep doing what you are doing and you will be fine!

mwrarr:

I just want to shop; I guess it like mini rewards to me; instead of food; I buy cloths! :) I'm not a big fan on shopping; so maybe it will reside after awhile and I will find something better to do! :) Unless then as I take out old cloths I will add new ones :)

Good luck!! :)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
