Hey everyone! I had my sleeve surgery yesterday at noon. I was discharged from the hospital today at two. I'm able to take small sips of Water and tiny bits of chicken broth. Anything else (jello, Gatorade 0, Vitamin water 0) makes me really nauseous. I haven't thrown up yet though. Won't that make my stomach open up?? I'm stressing.

So what about throwing up? Have any of you thrown up?

I was in the hospital for three nights. Days 2 and 3 I vomited several times (it's why I stayed an extra night). Stomach did not open up, but one thing I wish I'd been told... IF you vomit shortly after surgery, expect to vomit blood. It's not fresh, but rather that left in your tummy from the procedure. It only happened the first time, but it freaked me out, fearing I'd split the staples open!

After discharge, all was fine until the last week or so. Now three months out, I've vomited three times in the past week. Think my sleeve just isn't happy with some of my choices.

I was just sleeved on 3-6 stayed in hospital two nights due to nausea and vomiting. It's gone now, thank god. Dr said it was normal. The issue I had once released yesterday is dark brown diarrhea. Kinda scares me. Have u had that?

Yes, I believe that's also normal. I didn't have a bowel movement until 5 days post-op (thank GOD, because I was dreading the thought of having to ask anyone to wipe my tush!), and it was definitely diarrhea. Since all you should be taking in are liquids, that's all there is to come out.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
