i went and i THINK i conquered. she said since i didnt have diabetes, high blood pressure, and i could possibly be stress eating the insurance could deny it. i told her that im trying to prevent those. she said she would put in the referral, adding that it wasnt a guarantee. i honestly just wanted to tell her "look im trying to save myself 13k, ima do it with or without insurance thats how important this is, damn"!!! lol lets see how long this takes

You can always find a PCP that supports your cause! Anyway, my doctor referred me without any hassle. In fact he was very very supportive! I don't have HBP or Diabetes or anything other than fat. The fact that the doc is hesitant from the jump isn't a good sign...

My PCP thinks I can do it on my own and is not in support of my surgery. I just saw her two weeks ago for a cough and didn't even tell her I was getting it on March 12th. I will tell her afterwards. My GYN wrote the letter for the surgeon stating she knows I am getting it and is in support. My PCP gives great care and advise but is a tough cookie. Cant wait to see her face after I tell her I had it done. She will be doing a lot of head shaking and deep sighing.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
