Pre-Surgical Liquid Diet Help!

Recommended Posts

Hi!

I started my weight loss journey on November 28, 2012, and my Gastric sleeve surgery is coming up on March 18th! I start my High Protein/Low Carbohydrate Pre-Surgical liquid diet on Monday March 11, and thought I've done my research on Protein Shakes, any suggestions to best ones would be GREAT! Also, any suggestion on chewable vitamins/supplements would be great too! :) Thank you!!!

P.S: Check out my weight loss blog at http://laideejae.blogspot.com! :)

i think i may have had my last Protein Shake for a long while...ive had it.

however, here are my 2 cents on the subject: i think the Premeir Protein ready-to-drink shakes are the best. it is available at costco in vanilla and chocolate. both flavors are really good.

I cannot stand isopure-- too gritty and expensive.

For powders, i think "Body by Vi" has the best powder. it mixes easily and doesnt have that protein aftertaste. However, Body by Vi has to be bought from a distributor- you can google it. hope this helps.

I drank Atkins advantage before my pre-op diet. However, when it was time for my pre-op, I could have not milk based products. My drinks had to be made with Water. I had some Syntrax nectar on hand, which helped out tremendously and was pretty good despite the fact they were mixed with Water.

I have had the nectar with almond milk as well. My NUT gave me a couple of samples of unjury, chocolate and vanilla. They were both good and mixed easily...again both with water. So I am sure they will be even more delicious in milk.

I have also had Pure Protein....it's okay. I've had Lean Body, Designer whey, Isopure and Cytosport.

What I have come to like about the Isopure Zero Carb is that when I add a crystal light packet it tastes much better and it has to be very chilled. My favs are the Alpine Punch and Mango Peach, I think it is.

I ordered the Premiere when Amazon had the amazing sale, so I'm not sure how it tastes, but I hear great things.

Much success to you.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
