MONDAY - How do you start your week off? Has the Sleeve changed things for you?

Recommended Posts

I'm still pre-op so I can't say Mondays are much different for me now. Although, it seems the closer I get to surgery, the more I think about the life changes I'm going to have to make to be successful.

Just tonight when I was on the phone with a friend, the topic of drinking Water came up. I have managed to cut down from 3 diet cokes a day to 1. It's probably going to be the hardest thing for me to give up totally.

BTW, I was "on the throne" when this conversation occurred. And there may be a lesson here for others. When I woke up today, I didn't feel good, stomach a little queasy. Hmm, I thought, maybe it's because I'm constipated ... better do something about that. I decided to take a swig of prune juice that I recently bought. Not sure how much to drink, I gulped down a random amount -- probably about 6 oz. A couple of hours later, I did "an Al Roker." Like Al, I popped out a tiny fart and was surprised it was not all air. I made the mistake of doing it again ... to be sure ... and voilla, explosive diarrhea! Needless to say, I didn't make it to the bathroom as soon as I'd like.

Can anyone relate to this? I really didn't think I drank that much prune juice! Well, that's how the end of my weekend went. Sure hope Monday is much less dramatic!

Hope to hear back from you guys!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
