Ugh, my husband did this once and it really set me off in a foul mood. It was a one time thing though, we are having some external stressors right now so I don't hold it against him, for the most part he is a sweety and we are good for each other.

I think you have to ask yourself basically the same thing. You said you guys argue but is it usually serious where you end up hurt or is it more minor things? If these people are truely causing you stress on a regular basis it might be time to pull away from them for a while. You have to get your mind right, and if you are being berated and told to "go eat" to me thats a sign that they see you as some kind of junkie who can't be pleasant without your vice, like the drunk who clearly has a problem but everyone lets it go because he's the life of the party.

I read a book recently and I highly recommend it to anyone having surgery or thinking about surgery. It made me reevaluate my reasons for deciding to have surgery and also think about things I had not considered about the way the people in my life would react. It is called (I believe) " Emotional First Aid for Bariatric Surgery" It was a really great read and opened the door to some great discussions with my husband and children. I too have also chosen to tell only my husband, children and two close girl friend about my surgery. My husband is also having the surgery and has chosen to only tell same people. We are doing this for us and for our lives.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
