Spider sleevers, What???

I've never heard of it referred to as a spider incision but I had the single incision in my belly button and the pain was minimal. Of course there was some discomfort after surgery but by the time a week came around I wasn't in any pain. I can't even see the incision since it's in my belly button but I can feel where they cut if I stick my finger in there. I'm so glad I went with the one incision. Oh and I didn't have a drain either.

My belly button did start to get a little stinky and sweaty after it had healed but I put a cotton ball in there for about a week to keep it dry (I changed it often) and it eventually went back to normal. I think I developed a yeast infection in there because when my belly button area swelled from surgery, it basically closed the opening to my belly button and I would sweat in there. The cotton ball absorbed the moisture and kept it dry but I didn't start to put those in there until I was about a month post op and fully healed. Other than that I'm really happy with the one incision :)

I was freaking out on the 56 too! I had 3 incisions when they removed my gallbladder and I will have 5 with this surgery.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
