My paperwork, anyway. I faxed it to the center this afternoon. My doctors should have faxed my records to them by now, since I saw all of them last week and asked them to write letters for me (I managed to catch a cold for my trouble, also. Damn doctors' offices.:sick) Hopefully everything will be sent out to my insurance company soon, because I want to have surgery at the end of the year. For one, it would be a marvelous Christmas present to myself. Two, my deductible is paid for 2006. Save money anywhere you can, I always say. Three, I want as much time to recover as possible before the spring semester starts at my university, mainly because I am afraid of having a wacky reaction to the anesthesia. When my mom had both knees replaces, she had a weird reaction, and wasn't the same, memory and stamina-wise for a couple of months after the surgery. That is what really scares me the most. I have to really concentrate and stay on track next semester if I expect to get my Master's in May.

Good luck, Laurend! Do yourself a favor and follow up on the submission. With time being so important you don't want even a couple of days to be wasted because someone didn't get a fax. Just call your carrier and ask if they have received the request for precert and whether any information is missing.

Fingers are crossed for you!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
