Hey everyone,

So, I have BCBS of TX federal;

My requirements are: 3 month supervised diet, psychological evaluation, drug test, consultation with dietician and 2 yr medical history of being overweight/obese...

I have great benefits BUT my only issue is the 2 yr medical history....I just got health insurance this past nov and before getting health insurance the last time I went to the doctor was in July of 2009 after I had my daughter (ive been overweight since I was 7) now I'm just worried I won't get approved :(

Maybe the July 2009 appointment notes will work. After all, they show you have been overweight for more than the requisite two years. Here's hoping. I have BCBS federal also. You are lucky to have them.

I don't have a doctor either. I'm hoping my OB notes from pregnancies, and my foot surgery pre-op info, all from the last 6 years and all showing weights, will be sufficient. I'll find out soon. I should be submitting next week.

Thanks everyone! I'm hoping they accept it but I won't be submitting paper work until May, gotta finish this 3 month diet first.

@itsme- let me know how it goes for you. Good luck!

      Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

        As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

        Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

        Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

      Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
