3 weeks post-op and a quarter of the way to goal!

Recommended Posts

I just realized that I'm only 3 weeks into sleevedom and I've already lost a quarter of my excess weight and the inches are flying off. Best part is that I have SOOOO much energy. My toddler wakes me up around 5:30am and I'm up, moving about, walking 3-4 miles daily and living like a normal high energy person chasing a mini Tasmanian Devil until I pass out around 11pm. I am easily meeting my daily Protein and liquid goals. Life is good.

Since I am a self-professed datawhore, I've been diligently tracking all my stats including measurements weekly since Jan 22nd, a week before my surgery. If you're curious or nosy (or both) - here they are: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AtW90JQQyIegdG1wZFpQemNDZTkxR1lodDRzdnoyaEE. Sleevie-poo, I think I love you already.

Roxannez.....congratulations! I am also just shy of 3 weeks out and have also lost about 30 lbs including the preop diet. Have you hit any little plateaus yet? I seem to be a little stuck already and find it frustrating. I too am a datawhore, I write down every bit of food/fluid that I put into my mouth. I am also walking about 4 miles a day as well.

Thank you all!

Rbott, I haven't hit any plateaus yet. My NUT said that the best way to avoid them is to vary my diet almost every day in addition to hitting Protein and liquid goals which I have been trying to do. I'm not registering a loss every single day, but at least every 3 days I definitely do. (Yes, I weigh myself daily :)) I hope whatever stall you're in breaks sooner rather than later!

Roxannez....have you had any vomiting episodes? I had my first one today, and I don't believe it was because I ate too much or too fast. I often have this feeling in the center of my chest like what ever food I just injested is sitting right there....I think I may have a stricture. Just curious if you have experienced anything like that?

I had a single vomiting episode and I'm pretty sure that was because I drank a mug of herbal tea too fast (tmi, but at least it was raspberry tea coming up instead of something worse!). I also get the stuck feeling in my throat if I eat too fast. Honestly I think it's my new full signal. Although, if you're in any way concerned you have a stricture, I highly recommend checking it out with your surgeon, just in case.

Great job Roxanne! I'm at Methodist today. Should get discharged tomorrow. I get pain in my chest if I drink too fast also. It's encouraging to hear about your progress.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
