What's for breakfast?

Recommended Posts

Lately I have been having slimfast for breakfast. I have other foods but right now I am tight in the morning. Other times I will have oatmeal, trail mix or cheese that is when I am being good.

The pros of having a shake for breakfast is that you are getting that Protein in early and you are keeping your calories down.

:nervous , I'm embarrassed to say, I still don't do breakfast. I did try for a while, right after surgery, probably the first year to get Protein down, but it was too much work.

I've never been a breakfast person, always seemed like a waste of good calories :kiss .

One shredded wheat biscuit with just a little boiling Water to soften it and heat it. That's all I can manage til about 1 pm.

I have a packet of low sugar oatmeal or some fruit. I buy frozen fruit and have it thawed in the fridge all the time. I have also been known to have a sugar free high protien pudding. Usually it is a cup of hot tea with fat free cream (fake stuff) and a packet of oatmeal. I can't do real solids in the am. When I can it is 2 boiled eggs, diced, with some soy bacon bits. But that's rare for me. ~Mandy

I love breakfast, but since reaching proper restriction, I can only do liquids until lunchtime. So, it is a Protein Shake for me. And I do not get hungry until lunchtime.

Soy cafe au lait and one of the following...

a bite or two of a bagel with lots of cream cheese (the dogs eat the rest)

cottage cheese

drinkable yogurt

Protein drink

Breakfast always has to be a warm drink and then something soft or else I'm sliming for an hour. YUCK!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
