How far out are you? Even though you can blend it up, it still is going to expand in your stomach. I am guessing you are early post-op since your join date here is less than a month ago. Please be careful and follow your guidelines. Yes, you are on liquids, but most NUT's have starchy carbs OFF of the menu for several months.

When I have the urge for spaghetti I just make the sauce and eat it with a spoon get me the same taste without the carbs.

Carbs aren't the thing to avoid. As a matter of fact, you will find me on here advocating NOT doing a low carb diet for sleevers. But that is a post for another day. The issue with spaghetti at this point is it is an expander. Within the first 6 weeks, you are still at risk for a leak. The staple line has not scarred over yet. Starchy foods typically (not all) are expanders. Rice, Pasta, breads, crackers and the like. You get full on them and they expand in your stomach. The stretchy part of the stomach has been removed, so you begin putting pressue on the staple line, potentially causing a leak.

I'm not saying this is going to happen to you or happen all of the time, but I know for me and for most of the folks on this board, they were advised to avoid these types of foods early out for these reasons.

A better choice for a new sleever is something like Egg Face's Ricotta Bake. It has all the flavor of lasagna without any Pasta and it's soft enough for the puree stage. PDX is right that pasta, bread and rice expand to an uncomfortable level in our tummies. I still don't eat rice at all, and very little bread or pasta simply because all three make my tummy hurt. At most, I'll have one small tortilla or one piece of bread, but I always have to wait extra time afterwards before I drink Water so that they don't absorb the water and make me hurt.

Sorry PDX didn't mean to imply that the carbs were the main problem with the Pasta. Just stated it that way because it was easier then going into the whole starch thing. Obviously the sauce without the noodles will also avoid the expander of the pasta. Personally I do avoid the high carb items like pasta and breads because in my pre sleeve life I was a carbaholic which had a lot to do with my weight gain. Everyone's diet needs to be personalized to what works for them in my opinion.

Couldn't agree more. Just wanted to ensure a new sleever wasn't setting themselves up for a trip to the ER.

Has anyone tried the tofu noodles? I saw them in the store today and was curious. I'm still about 3 weeks away from eating them though. I love spaghetti squash btw. It goes good with salmon.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
