Is My Sleeve Too Big?

Recommended Posts

I am so worried!!! I am 6 1/2 months out and feel as if my sleeve is too big! I used to be able to get extremely full off of 1 ounce of nuts, and now I can eat 4 ounces of tuna! Is this normal?? Have I somehow ruined my sleeve??? Ahhhh please please please give me advice lol

Thanks!

After 6 months you are completely healed and your restriction is definately less then before. 6 months is when I noticed I could eat more too. 4oz of tuna.... Is that like a fillet or from a can?

Probably not. First of all, I feel like it depends a lot on what I eat. I can eat a bunch of one thing, and hardly any of another. I haven't really figured out what the difference is. Do you write everything down and count calories? I still stay under 1,000 a day, even though sometimes it feels like I'm eating a lot. Remember, it is quality and not quantity, and also, we need to be making good choices for the rest of our lives. I definitely eat more now than I did those first few weeks. I am losing slowly, but still losing, but I also have to exercise.

My doc says fully healed the stomach will hold 4-6 oz....sounds normal. No one could live as restricted as early post surgery!

buffalogal, thanks for the response. It frightens me that now I'm eating closer to 800 calories a day. I only have 30 pounds until goal weight, but the less restriction thing has been playing games with me mentally and I all of a sudden have so much doubt on whether I will reach my goal weight or not.

I can do the same. As long as you eat within your guidelines and keep losing that's all that matters :-)

Mastiff_mama, did your doc specify exactly when your stomach is fully healed?

Just as a reality check, you do realize how very little 800 calories a day is, right? You could probably double that and still lose weight. Granted, it wouldn't be as fast, but I think we get a bit desensitized to the fact that we really, honestly, eat next to nothing.

I go through the same thing, but when I look at the big picture, I am eating the way I was told to, I eat healthy, I exercise, and do everything as I was told. If you think about it, our bodies can't keep losing like we did at first. We need fuel. I am still losing, but it goes slowly, and I freak myself out sometimes if I think I ate too much. But, I look around me, and watch what other people are eating, and how much, and it keeps everything in perspective. I would say it takes me about 4-6 weeks to drop 10lbs now. But, I'm still dropping, I am 100% healthier than I was before, and 100% happier. If I stayed where I am, it would be okay, but I am starting to trust the process, trust myself, and know I will make it. You will too!

I am 9 months post-op and eat about 850-900 calories daily but lately it's closer to 1000, especially if I've exercised that day. Some days it feels like I could eat all day long, though still only 4-5 oz at a time.

I'm still losing and have 65 lbs until goal. I'm not worried. ...I still feel restriction and I want to be able to eat enough to maintain once I've reached goal and not keep losing!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
