i'm not hungry, why do i want to eat?

Recommended Posts

I just ate lunch about an hour ago (about 1/2 a packet of spicy tuna) and was full ... in fact, i still am full ... not hungry in any way.

but i want to eat. i had to stop myself from grabbing my 100 cal. pack of doritos ... i've been drinking my CL all day so i am not thirsty... ahhhh! this is so frustrating!!!

i'm at work and there is just so much garbage here (i am 2 offices down from the "snack shack") and i would really love chocolate... :hungry:

this is the first time this has happened since i've been banded a bit over a month ago.

thoughts??

thanks!

sounds like "head hunger" to me.

we eat for lots of reasons, hunger being just one reason. For many of us, if we only ate when we were hungry, we'd never be MO... not all, but many.

We eat because we are social creatures, because food is part of celibrations, because we are bored, because we are angry, because we are not paying attention. We eat because eating gives us pleasure and because we need too from a phycholoical point of view as well.

(Sure wish I could spell)

I heard on some TV show that when head hunger hits put one of those disolvable listerine breath strips in your mouth. Its supposed to stop the urge to eat. I don't know if its true, but I thought I would get me some of those. :(

Head hunger is the hardest. Our minds want us to eat, even tell us we are hungry, but we really aren't. I think this is something we will fight for quite a while.

Good luck

I also heard Dr. Oz (from Discovery Health) say that cinnamon gum or tic tacs would help get rid of head hunger--also--wetting your lips...and counting to 20 (or was it count to 3??--i wasn't paying that much attention to the Today show the other morning.) it might be on msnbc's website under Today show--since it was just this week.

and get yourself distracted! look at people magazine online (or time, or forbes or business week or SOMETHING)

:(

Best,

I agree...head hunger is the WORST. But, if you've been doing OK and lately you're having trouble making it between meals then perhaps your Protein intake is off?? Sometimes I start "slipping" and not making a big enough focus on protein. Foods with lots of protein and Fiber really do seem to help me stay outta trouble between meals. Just an idea to help.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
