husband is getting on my DAM nerves!

I had Surgery 1/14 have lost about 20 pounds my weight before surgery was 233 ...Happy with my sleeve!!! I find myself constantly in the supermarket looking for things that I can eat that are high in protein or fiber. Tonight I got fish sticks put them in my toaster oven had a little tarter sauce this was my dinner...who the heck do I find in the kitchen cooking the rest of my fish sticks!?!?! My husband, mind you he has a pasta dish with turkey meat, salad and bread sticks ....OMG!! I wanted to throw the dam fish sticks at him!!!

  • Maybe we should just fill the house with only foods we can eat- buy enough for everybody. That way everybody is on the new eating plan.

I like to sit and eat dinner with my family I don't cook separate food for myself I eat the same stuff just a whole lot less of it.. Don't alienate yourself at the table

I plan on doing the same thing as soon as I am allowed more foods. It's the perfect opportunity to get the whole family eating healthier. Also in regards to the Protein shakes my Doc and Nutritionist discourage liquid calories even from Protein Shakes after two weeks post op.

I have been so lucky that my fiancee has changed his eating habits. He eats everything I eat. But he will have beef and steak. I have to say it doesn't make me jealous. I can eat it eventually. He lost 15 lbs already because he stopped eating out.

But no one f's with my popsicles...just saying lol.

Not all of us are in the eat anything phase. Plus, not much appeals to me now so even when I get to the anything phase it will have to be slowly worked in.

Deecc26.. I use my Protein shakes for coffee creamer

True to that Ms.AntiBand!!

And sometimes I eat what they are eating or at least the protein part and sometimes I don't. Like last night I made them Pasta (never really liked pasta) So I ate something different but it far from "alienates" me from them!

I have so many other fun ways to alienate if I want to! :P

Thanks for the heads up. I need something crunchy. Will keep that in mind.

Correction it is actually fish fillets (Gorton's)they're crunchy and breaded with 10gm of Protein 250 calories ....But to me the look so small they look like fish sticks!lol

Tawnie~ I hear you girl.... My husband has always had a bowl of Cereal an hour or so before bed- every night since we have been married 11 years ago. And now-- when he goes to get it- and sits next to me on the couch and I can hear him crunching on it - I want to make him spill it on himself. Hey are you off pureed foods now? I am still on pureed.

I told my husband if he wanted to continue to eat anything after dinner he had to do so in the kitchen like a single woman!!!

I don't want food around me...

Now that he has got the hang of it, he ask can I fix you a warm Protein drink. I'm sure he does that so that way he doesn't feel bad about eating.

My family lives Pasta, rice and all the food that at this time aren't to good for me. My husband and I slowing switched from white grains to all brown and mult-grain. As my mind and stomach get the hang of things sometime is best to avoid sit down dinners ...My main focus is on eating small portions, small bites and chewing, chewing and chewing some more...Once I am in full control we will have our sit down dinner again...

lol the other day I measured out 3 slices of turkey 1 tbls mayo 1 slice of bread. I started to eat it but could not finish it so I left it on the table to take a break and finish it in a little. I made my husband 2 chicken subs for dinner he eats them then eats that piece that I had measured and wanted to finish! I was soo pisssed!!! It is very frustrating with my kids also I feed them first then sit to eat my food and they are like oooh what are you eating mommy can I have some? YOU DONT EVEN LIKE BOILED EGGS! but if im eating it they want it. I wish I had my own fridge with a lock!

My mom and sister are notorious for eating my foods! I absolutly hateeeee it when they are eating large portions of rice pasta and other stuff and then here I come along with my tiny plate, all to hear my mom say "ohh let me take a bite" goshhh theres only like 5 bites in front of me!!!!! then they wanna call me "cheap" lol no im not cheap I cant eat what your eating....My dad keeps stealing my protein shakes, my mom and sister snacks on my peanuts all the time...I got so use to it now its whatever. Im actually 8 months post op so at times I eat what they eat :)

dad keeps stealing my Protein shakes,

Applauding all NEWBIES - just for the heck of it!!!! ;)

Wow, we must have the same husband...add some tartar sauce, tomato soup and he is reliving his youth.

Plus, he eats. All the items you mentioned too.

Proudgrammy,

I love my protein shakes still and I'm three months out!! :)

Oh and my husband loves them too, so yes he drinks them, but he's to scared of me to leave me on empty with them.... :P

I am tell you they want it ALL!!! Even your poor boring boiled egg. Lol

After weeks of going to the kitchen to find my healthier choices gone and the junk left that is exactly what I did. And no one has complained about the lack of junk food.
