I was approved at the end of last year. Took a little over 3 weeks. Calling didn't make much of a difference for me. Good luck!!

I called UHC today and I guess my file? Was submitted on Tuesday but the person I spoke with on the phone said my dr did not submit any clinical documentation?? Why does everything have to be difficult? Guess I'll be calling my drs office Monday morning.

CarrieP, that is exactly why you should call. You found out what needs to be done. I do not like to leave my destiny in the hands of others. Keep calling and stay on top of it. I called every morning and afternoon. I found out when I called that I was approved. If I had waited for a call from my surgeons office, It probably would have been 24 hours later. I don't think my nerves would have handled it. Good luck.....

My dr office submitted on Tuesday and I had verbal approval on Friday. However my dr office wouldn't schedule me until they received written approval which took a few more days. All in all I had a smooth process and so far I am loving my sleeve! I was sleeved on February 5 and am down from 254 hw 245 pre op and currently 228. Good luck to all it is definitely worth it. Don't get discouraged with the insurance. Just keep pushing them for an answer!

All my paper work is in. You must be proactive!!! I spoke to the same receptionist for the past two weeks about sending my stress test to my surgeons office. 3 times she had the WRONG NUMBER!!! DUUHHH!!! The last time I spoke to her I waited on the phone while she faxed it!!! Well I have done everything, now I have to HURRY UP AND WAIT!!!! I will give them 1 week then I will be calling!!! The surgeons office said it could take up to 40 days!!!!! WHAT???? UHC??? I hope not!!! Please God let me be approved!!! No surprise hoops from UHC!!!

Happyloser

I called them everyday -- we double and triple checked the medical plan documents... My requirements were not stringent as compared to what others shared. I hope they tell you soon I was going crazy

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
