So disappointed in myself!

Today is the 5th day of my 2 week preop diet. It's pretty rigid. 4 Carnation Breakfast Essentials mixed with 1 cup of Water for each meal. Then, water and crystal light between them. The sweet is getting to me. I broke down and opened a can of diced tomatoes and ate some. OMG, they were delicious. But, I am totally ashamed that I broke down like that. :(

I know it will. I don't know what came over me, but I just had to have something. I guess I'm pathetic. Lol....

No, pathetic would be a whole cake!!

All you have to do is get on the straight and narrow from now on and your secret will be safe with me... Hehe tomatoes :P

shake off the shame. The cycle of eating / shame / more eating is what got a lot of us here in the first place.

A can of tomatoes is no biggie. But what ever it was, it's done now. Nothing you can do about the past. Learn from any mistakes and keep an eye on the plan for the future - that is what you can control.

Good luck with the rest of your pre op!

I agree with Laura-ven. Tomatoes? But that is a healthier choice than most people make. I hear you on the sweet though. I'm a former sugar addict *crossing my fingers* so it was weird to be sick of all the sweet stuff. I really don't think it is that bad. Tomatoes do have sugar/carbs (fructose)...and are technically a fruit, but I don't think it will harm anything for you. That plus your liquids still probably qualifies for a low carb day. So don't fret...just try to keep on track. Just keep trying to remind yourself that this diet is to make your surgery as safe as it can possibly be.

I aspire to be like you when I grow up! Lol I wish at my moment of weakness I turned to a can of tomatoes and not a huge pork chop meal from The Cheesecake Factory ( imagine all those unhealthy calories)!

With that, I know you will do great and get back on the correct path...and be a success with your per-op diet! Just remember that we all have moments of weakness, but it is what we do following that moment that shows true strength. And I know that you are going to become persevere!

Best of wishes to you and congratulations on your upcoming surgery!

Dean for the record it was just a couple of bites not the whole can of tomatoes! Don't make the poor thing take on more shame than necessary!

You're obviously a really hard marker on yourself!

I get that. I'm a lot like that as well, and it's something I'm working on :)

I'm starting to realise that there will be lots of challenges along the way. Instead of me expecting myself to face every challenge and succeed I now know I'm going to stumble on some of them. And I'm ok with that (I think!!)

But like Laura said. A couple of bites of tomatoes with have ZERO effect on your pre op :)

LOL - I was trying to be 'sensitive' and talk about 'feelings' .........

The OP feels the same weather it was two bites of tomatoes or a whole cake *sigh* I should get off here and go and lock up some grubs .......... :P :P

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
