A few post op questions

Recommended Posts

Hi all! I had my surgery on 2/5 I feel ok. I was told nothing but Clear liquids for 2 weeks. No Protein or Vitamins. I am tired. I am down 32lbs.

Heaviest: 265

Day of surgery: 237

Today: 232.6

1st main concern: I am hungry is anyone else hungry? This makes me nervous I though I wasn't supposed to feel hungry.

2nd

I have a sharp pain to the left of my belly button not by an incision but about 3 inches left of the belly button. Anyone else?

3rd

I am not peeing that much.

4th

I hurts or feels uncomfortable when I swallow so its hard for me to get in as much fluids as I would like.

Is any of this normal? Any suggestions? Advice?

Thanks!

I can't respond to the reason you are not allowed Protein for two weeks; I was. Also I was never hungry after surgery - I wonder if that is the lack of Protein, again not sure.

After surgery, I drank chicken broth, lots of Water (liquids will get your urine moving) got to get your fluids in, I drank warm Decaf tea, sugar-free hit chocolate with and without PB2 (just to add variety), cream of chicken Soup. I'm not a beef eater so everything was chicken based.

The sharp pain on the left of the belly button, I had/have that too. It itches to this day, I'll ask my doctor on Friday (my surgery was 12/28/12).

I thought the uncomfortable (restriction) like feeling was because I had the band removed the same day as the sleeve was done -- I still occasionally get that restriction feeling, not sure why.

Unfortunately, I haven't answered your questions - but you're not alone. I've never been sick and I've lost 29 pounds since surgery.

Thanks this has helped a little. I will try to get mire fluids in. And I was really nervous about the pain so I'm glad to hear someone else has gone through it too.

I use to get several pains, now I've figured out what each are and one for sure is hunger pains. When I get them I eat some greek yogurt or sip some cream of rice, doesn't take much to fill me up. I get horrible pains when I swallow Water or juices. I am 1 1/2 weeks out from surgery. I still can't get all the pills I"m suppose to take down. 11 to be exact. I see the Dr in a few days so will see what he has to say. Congrats on the weight loss :)

I was starving right after surgery ( 1/28 ) now that it's been a little while I realize it was mostly mental and in my head, not a physical hunger from my new stomach

The pain could be gas, I still have them all over my belly area, but just to be safe if its really bad I would call your dr

And as for 3&4 if you are not getting enough fluids you won't be peeing that much, once again I would ask your dr about that, you don't want to get dehydrated

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
