I am in Daphne AL too!!

VERY scared and waiting here. Should be able to have surgery in Oct or Nov. I am on 2nd month of 7 months of weight loss trials. gained 4 lbs so far :(

Its so nice to have this forum for support! My family is no support at all :( they are against it.

I am still looking for a dr that I feel comfortable with. Ive seen 3 so far and go see Dr Richards at USA in July. I also have an appt with dr lord in p'cola in July.

I would greatly appreciate any input about your experiences? did you have nausea? pain? vomiting? etc. Did the staff at hospital treat you well?

Nice to meet you all. Am excited about this journey and hoping I have enough courage to follow thru!!!!!!!

Vicki

Hey there!!! I haven't logged in here in a while...

Don't worry too much about the lbs gained pre op, I def wasn't trying to but I also gained during my "insurance hoop jumping" I was terrified it would affect their decision but it didn't. I'm so sorry that you don't have support coming from your friends and family. My immediate family was supportive and a few of my friends but outside of that I haven't told anyone about my surgery. I chose to keep it private. I'm really close to you (I live in Satsuma) so if you need anything I'm more than willing to help out!

Dr. Ringold in Mobile, did my surgery back in Feb so I am just over 4 months post op and down 70 lbs so far. I really loved him!! I have seen his partner Dr. Hannon for all of my follow up stuff and I really like him alot too so if you haven't seen either of them, might be worth a consultation. As far as my experiences I have NO regrets, best decision of my life and i'm not even halfway to goal yet! Pain was minimal, I only took one dose of pain medicine the day after surgery then I didn't take anything else. i'm not a big medicine taker anyways. The only pain I really had was at the larger of the incision sites for about 5 days when I would get up out of bed. Other than that I had zero pain. Only time i battled nausea was when I came back from the upper GI the first day post op to check for leaks. After drinking that chalky mess i got super nauseated...then i burped and it went away haha The gas pains are there too but they aren't anything unbearable by any means, just uncomfortable really. As far as the hospital staff they were great! I never asked for anything that they weren't right back there with nor did I need anything the didn't get me.

let me know if you have any questions, i'm more than happy to share!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
