Im back, surgery 3/2

  • Popular Post

I changed my mind. I can't handle another summer obese, I just can't. 6 months is too long to wait and jump through hoops and continue my life this way

So.... Drumroll please!?

I just paid my deposit and booked my flight. I leave march first and am scheduled for march 2nd with dr. Garcia at MiDoctor. I couldn't be more excited!!

But I'm also nervous and freaking out, you know? Did I make the right choice?! Am I crazy?! Will I get trampled like a field mouse in a stampede @ the airports, etc. (first flight, ever)

Phew.

So that's me. Anyone else going march 2nd?

Near Columbia. You?

St. Louis (north county) I was suppose to be sleeve last September but money issues occurred. So I'm waiting for my taxes so I can hopefully go end of march beginning of April. It's been so frustrating waiting!

Ah amy... I am so happy for you! I felt so bad when you decided you needed to wait because i knew you really wanted this for YOU! By summer you will be well on your way to a healthier life for you and your entire circle of family and friends! Keep us posted!

U go girl. I will be there on the 5th and sleeved on the 6th. We might get to bump into each other.

Lol, you sound like me. I am scheduled March 23 with Dr. Fernando Garcia and I already have lists coming out the wazoo. My husband said he is scared I won't wake up in the mornings if I didn't put it on a list.

I am alsdo worried about the plane. This is only my secoind flight. My husband has flown all over for work so at least he knows what to do. I was originally going to go alone but I just got too nervous about flying alone. I wouldn't even know where to take or pick up my luggage. Now I am just worried about the seatbelts fitting. Oh well if I was not worried about something I would be worrying about why I wasn't worried.

I'm arriving the day before and my surgery will be March 1st. Good Luck to you and I might see you there!!

Oh, fun! Hope to see you!

Welcome back to the VSG Renegades! ;-)

I get your flight worries. I haven't flown in 14 years and everything is paperless and post 9/11. I'm a bit anxious about "where" my e-tickets are now that they're purchased.

I'd suggest calling your airline in advance identifying yourself as a first time flyer and that you'd like some assistance from airport drop off to airport pickup.

all great info, thank you!! Are there outlets on the plane? I'm worried about my Phone Dieing.

Also, do I use my phone to get my boarding pass, or do I print my itenerary? When I found it in my email, it said "mobile itenerary."

I have three weeks. I wonder how many samples I can get.

Oh my goodness, I need to make a what to pack list, a "buy for post op" list. So much to do! I'm glad I have three weeks to figure all I this out!

You can check out seatguru.com to find out if your row has outlets/personal entertainment thingies in the backs of the seat or stuff like that. Some do and some don't. If it's a small tiny plane chances are it won't. Usually when they have the seat back entertainment they also have outlets, sometimes they have outlets with no entertainment thing. Usually in the airports you can find charging stations to charge your phone too so you can plop down beside one during your layover if your flight doesn't have one.

Oh and you do need to call your airline and let them know you require wheelchair assistance, they probably won't have someone waiting for you at San Diego (you'll have to ask them since they have no idea at what time you'll arrive) but they WILL have someone waiting for you at your connecting flight.

Amytug - congratulations on getting your date and making the decision! You will be so glad you did! Let me know if questions, I just got back from TJ last week. The flight home was the worst part of everything, but overall not a big deal. Yay for you!

Hey.... Congrats on your journey continuation... I'm just 3 weeks behind you with Garcia also so I want details!, I will be hanging on your every post! :) Awesome!

What am I going to do for 3.5 hours?

Take an iPad! :)

The mobile itinerary just means they don't send out paper tickets. You can if you'd like use your phone for the boarding pass but I tend to just print my ticket at the airport. Likely, when you get to the airport you will see kiosks to check in. You use a credit card as identification to pull up your flight info then the kiosk will print your ticket. If you are checking luggage you will move to a different line for that. Very simple and there are always folks ready to assist.

Security: All liquids must be in a 3 oz container or less and placed in a zippy bag. The bag must be taken out of your carry on and placed in a bin through TSA. No need to pull out kindles or iPads, but if you bring a laptop that has to go in a separate bin. Plan on removing your shoes too. If I sound like a recording it's because I fly several times a month!

Personally, I love airports. Dallas is great as terminal D is really lovely. There's beautiful mosaic tile emblems on the floor that most people ignore and neat artistic features. The other terminals are pretty boring. People watching is the best.

Not all planes have power ports at the seats but most do. However you will need to put your phone in airplane mode during the flight (fully off for takeoff and landing). Airplane mode will use less power. And there are tons of places to plug in at the airport.

Pack less than you think you need.
