Work in Progress...

Recommended Posts

Today is Thursday, and Monday I had my 2nd post op follow up with my surgeon. GREAT NEWS! I'm down 6lbs since my initial follow up and I'm 1/4 of the way to my goal already! He said he was proud of me and that I seem to be on the right track so far. I can't express how great it felt to hear someone sasy they were proud of me. At first I was like, uhm, ok? proud of me for what? not eating my weight in M&M's or falling into a large pit of Pasta? But as a long term fluff (that's what I call it) I have never been good at hearing compliments of any kind. After understanding that he was offering me positive reinforcement praise for (in my mind) so little efforts, I was like WOOOOHOOOO!!! I DID GOOOD!!!

So, nothing else to report, just thought I'd share. HAPPY THURSDAY fellow Sleevers!!

I'm so happy for you! It is something I struggle with also. Ive noticed that every time a compliment is given I automatically Answer it with an negative reinforcement in my head...

I'm trying to work on that. it sounds like you are starting to recognize that you are worthy of praise.

And you should be proud! It's a great accomplishment

:DWe are all so worthy of being praised. It took a long time for me to just say thank you and smile, underneath all that I see myself patting myself on my back..... We've all done good so keep it up........

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
