Depends on a lot of things... What kind of job you have, what you feel like coming out of surgery.

Some people with desk jobs and such take a week off sometimes even less!

Others take 3 or more weeks.

I personally think a couple of weeks is good you never know about your own personal pain level or complications even minor like nausea.

Most definitely you really cannot lift much for several weeks at least !! And the bending twisting thing can be a painful experience..

Oh and digestion... Well that first week...it ain't pretty :)

Edit;

You will have a lifting restriction nothing above 10 or 15 pounds for 1 month

I recommend two weeks minimum, four weeks is ideal. I could not SIT comfortably for more than 30 minutes at a time at 2-3 weeks without needing breaks to lie down (incision comfort), deal with gas, or just need a nap. Emotions are also hard as your hormones adjust, anesthesia and pain meds exit your system - I just didn't want that drama in the work place.

Ok on purée u can have things like refried Beans mashed potatoes and such

I at that stage bought instant mashed potatoes and you must make them watery... But by then I was so hungry I did something I said I would never do... Purée chicken!

A little chicken some gravy! Warm and filling!

You can even but a little mashed potatoes in it. If you can get more Protein based foods you will be more satisfied longer. Some people buy meat baby food yuck! So bad I fed it to the dog :)

(Edit) if you do a search on purée you will see some people go all out and cook a lot of things and purée it.. Meatloaf&gravy canned meats etc.

I had my surgery on a Wednesday, and was back to work by Monday, I have a desk job and a assitant, so I was able to work thru being a bit uncomfortable. If I could have I def would have taken the entire week of, but owning my own business, I had no choice.

based off my experience if I had a desk job where I didn't have to move around a lot I would take one week off, including the weekend obviously, and if I had a physical job I would take two.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
