Buffets by the pound!

Recommended Posts

I went to the buffet at Whole Foods today and they charge by the pound. I grabbed some diced chicken breast that was meant to be a salad topping, a bit of cottage cheese and a tiny bit of quinoa. My lunch was $1.60! Makes more sense than going to a restaurant!

That's funny! I used to tell my kids.. Come on we're going to lunch and take them to costco for the samples. lol... It's still a family joke

OP.. I used to stop at Whole Foods in the am and grab a salad to take to work. I love their cubed chicken. Not sure how they cook it, but find it yummy. I'm not ready to eat salad yet, but I agree that it's a great deal.

Early out when you can't eat much, salad bars can be a great deal, even if you don't want "salad". They often have cubed meats, chopped eggs, and grated cheese. Bigger ones have cooked veggies, cottage cheese and cut-up fruit. Very handy for those that don't need to cook for anyone but themselves.

And when you are ready for salad, it's much more cost-effective than buying a lot of stuff that will spoil before you can eat it.

Now that I can easily eat 1/2 cup veggies with my meal, it's not longer such a great deal for me :-)

Sometimes Chinese buffets let you get a take home box and fill it up at the buffet for a reasonable price. You can live on that for quite a while. Broccoli, other veggies, tasty meats, and they even let you get some egg drop Soup.< /p>

I was speaking of the ones at the grocery store. Be sure to check out a restaurant one before selecting it to be sure it has enough of the foods you will eat to make it worth your while.

Early out my go to meal at restaurants was a crab or shrimp cocktail. I love them, it feels like a splurge, and generally they are about the right size. Hubby never minded eating a few bites if I couldn't finish it.

I've not seen a salad bar in a grocery store in years... but it did make me think about food choices on the salad bar when I decide to venture out to dine...

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
